elvis3006
Hello everyone i am new to the forum and i just got a deactivated M1A1 Tsmg. I live in Canada and we are not able to own functioning Tommy guns, and any variant semi or full auto unless you were grandfathered. We are allowed to own newly manufactured semi auto Sten guns and BD38 aka MP38 with blow back type of action but not Tsmg's for some reason. Here are some pictures, i hope they turn out. Thank you. darrylta
Elvis,Welcome to THE THOMPSON SMG FORUM, I've always had a hard time remembering the different dewat laws of other nations. Our dewat standards are more destructive than what I'm seeing on yours it appears that your receiver is relatively intact.Would you describe how it's deactivated? -Darryl

darrylta
The M1A1 does have some out of the ordinary hardware as in;Knurled paddle selectors (early Savage 1928)A late 1928 / early M1 rear site attached with screwsand a 1928 / early M1 magazine catch. Maybe someone else can date the serial number, but all in allit's a nice display gun that appears to have been refinished with black oxide. -Darryl Edited November 5, 2012 by darrylta
elvis3006
What is the correct way of securing the rear site to the reciever, rivets? Are screws incorrect ? Thank you. Rob
darrylta
Rivets are the correct way to attach the rear site. Not pop rivets of course, solid rivets installed with a press.-Darryl

Canuck
Welcome to the Thompson fraternity! You will find a few of your countrymen, of which I am one, lurking about. There are still quite a few Thompsons here in Canada though it takes a bit of sleuthing to find them. You'll find this the absolute best forum to learn about the gun and anything related to it. I'm on the east coast and if you're anywhere near I'd be more than happy to show you my little collection.
