DZelenka
I had a bolt body failure on my 42 today. Yugoslav bolt, Romanian surplus ammo. Was this just bad luck or a sign of some sort of issue with the gun? Also, the top cover kept popping open during firing. It may have been hitting my glasses or maybe the latch spring is weak. Black River Militaria CII
Looks like metal fatigue, so replace it. If you shoot the gun something will eventually break. You don't mention if the gun is vintage or a welded post-sample, etc. The top cover latch should move fully into lock when cover is closed. Look at the top inside of the feed lever to see if there is any excessive wear indicating that bolt drive stud is contacting it. top of drive stud should not press against the inside top of the feed lever. Usually the issue is a weak latch spring which can be replaced with equivalent or stronger spring. FWIW
DZelenka
It is a C&R gun. I replaced the bolt. I also replaced the top cover with an M 53 cover that I had laying around to see if that cures the latch issue. If it does, I assume spring will need replacing.
