BRMCII
Old thread but really interesting 1924 Commercial. Where is this BMG? Lovely gun! Considering that the inset brass plug also has nicks on it similar to the others, IMO the plug possibly was done a long time ago. Coarse abrasion marks from finish levelling go across the plug. Faked Nick marks on the plug? The brass plug is way too large to have been the size of the DEWAT pin. Since the radius of the barrel hole in the trunnion leaves the top thickness extremely thin, IMO, the pin hole was enlarged and a larger plug was inserted so there would be more support for the plug at the thicker sides of the hole. Plug and hole were probably threaded.Repair of a DEWAT pin would be visible on the underside of the trunnion as well. Sing Sing prison gun was a WC BMG and was mounted on a highly modified 1917 tripod from what I recall with extended legs with wheeis. It was sold without a gun many years ago. This gun has a matching numbered standard commercial tripod. Great to see this offering and the auction pics! Edited April 11 by BRMCII
