snipershot1944
I thought that it couldn't get worse, but it has. I wanted to check the status of my MP 40 transfer so I made my weekly call to the NFA. Instead of the swithboard person at NFA answering the phone and directing me to a voice mail box for my examiner (with the call never returned), the ATF phone now either rings twice then cuts me off, or I get a recording that says to call back since the extension I reached does not accept messages. Is the NFA branch moving to West Virginia, or are we going to have to continue to deal with these folks in DC indefinitely? They're f'en bureaucrats who have no sense of responsibility or work ethic for the people who pay their salaries. Trust me....it will take 5-6 months for the approval. Once it comes the dealer will contact you ASAP so he can get the rest of his money. Have patience. The day will come soon when you have it. Then the waiting will be history. Stop calling the BATF. You're only frustrating yourself. Relax and start looking for cheap 9mm ball ammo. Buy 9mm while you're waiting. That will give you something to do. Dan G. Bill-banger
Someone on the Bowers board posted the email addy for Ken Houchens at ATF, and I sent him a note asking about two transfers that had been "pending" for several months. I got a reply back that afternoon from his assistant telling me they were now approved, and a week later the sellers got the form in the mail. I hesitate to post it here, but if you email me privately I'll give it to you. Bill-banger mitch48@bellsouth.net
snipershot1944
I finally got to talk with my examiner two weeks ago and she told me then that she would sign off on my paperwork that day, and mail it out the following day. Now, two weeks later, I call the ATF and find that the paperwork is "still pending". I'm actually a banker, and hope someday to be able to give my friends at the NFA branch the same kind of customer service that they have given me so far. Let's see, where is that loan application????? Oh yes, on the bottom of the pile, "still pending". Call back after 90 days and I'll see if it's done yet. junglewalk
I know the fustration, and wondering, why me? .......I am sure your wait has been over that magic 90 day period; with mine, it was 90 days plus a week, when I called one morning, and was told,'it's still pending', then the noon mail brought the approved paper work to my dealer two hours later !!!! That just showed me the non-care of the paper flow up there, and the lack of consideration for us low life citizens out here in fly over country.... I bet your papers will arrive any moment... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif , and this will just be a bad memory in the back of your mind..... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif When you do get the gun, practice up, and then bring it with you to the next KCR shoot, and enter and try your skill in the much vaunted 'Jungle Walk'.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif ...................jw
snipershot1944
Today is the 91st day in my wait for the C&R MP40. When I called the switchboard this morning to inquire about the status, I got the same reply, "still pending". So, I carefully composed a very polite email detailing my issues related to a lack of returned phone calls, promises to sign off on my paperwork and to call back with status not kept, etc. and emailed them to one of the NFA Branch supervisors with a copy to the NFA Branch Chief. Email was sent at 2:03. The guy called me back within a half hour telling me that the transfer was approved and followed up with an email! I'm a happy camper today. mp40
That's awesome snipershot1944! Gee, I wish that I was in a free state! Ah well, maybe soon.. Man, That will be great to finally take it home and to the range with out the dealer being along with you! Ah, the power of the Polite E-mail! That often works the best compaired to phone calls and or letters which can be lost or given the "run-around" Anyways, enjoy that MP40!
