tvrc18
I bought a GI mag catch to modify for my Kahr M1. I read up on how to remove the pivot plate and the saftey lever but it does not say to remove the frame from the receiver. The owners manual says if the pivot plate is removed with the frame on the receiver the warranty will be void. Do you need to slide the frame off before hand or should you leave the frame on the receiver?
Grey Crow
tvrc18 The mag catch is independant of the rest of the internals. It can be removed with the frame on, or off of the receiver. I chose to do it with the frame off simply for ease of handling.
Zamm
tvrc18, Grey Crows right, on or off, it's independant. I to would remove it with the reciever off though, just an easier way to work. Here are some steps to perhaps show you what's inside. But remember, you don't have to go through these steps to get the catch off, these are just for reference. best, Zamm http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v727/zamm/Zinstructions1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v727/zamm/Zinstructions2.jpg
Grey Crow
Zamm, That's the 1st time I've seen detailed printed photos of the frame dissasembly. Cool! LOL, the 1st time I dissasembled the frame I did it by Goose Shit in the Moon Light, so to speak. I've been taking guns apart, and putting them back for a long time, just through looking at how they work.
DC Chris
Craig- This is a very cool and informative picture series. Where did you get it from? I think that this is FAQ material. Good stuff. Rack it! Chris.
Zamm
Chris, Yeah, It's a 6 page thing that I got off of ebay 3 years ago called the "Thompson27A-1 Takedown Guide". Looks home grown, distributed by "Radocy". I think they/him made a bunch of these for different guns. Be glad to pin the rest of the pages if anyone wants. Though I could get my reciever off the frame when the internals got all crunched up... That, it did not cover. Luckily there was PK. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif QUOTE I've been taking guns apart, and putting them back for a long time, just through looking at how they work. Grew Crow, That's what I do too, best way to learn how a thing works, but I was about to go at this thing with a 5 lb hammer http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif Zamm
