richard w.
Before I call, I'd like an impartial opinion from someone who's ordered one. Are they in good shape? The website offers no description of condition. Thanks
mnshooter
I've had various parts from them arrive unused, still in grease, and other times parts very worn finish, light rust spots, but usable. You really won't know until you get the part. If you're not happy, you will pay shipping to return it.You could try specifying in your order not to ship unless in excellent condition; can't hurt.During most major holidays, they will offer free shipping for that weekend, or something similar. If you can get to Knob Creek, Sarco and many others are there; you can hand pick your parts. I saw a Lyman sight new in the cardboard box for $175.00 at one table. Still kick myself for not buying it.

Motorcar
Got one from them a few weeks ago, looks like a '28A1 take off. No rust, greased up and not a blemish....cleaned up very nice with all parts functional.

reconbob
All of these sights are take-offs. The people pulling and packing them (at Sarco) are not Lyman sightexperts studying them for condition. It goes from the bin into the box and gets shipped. I have probablyprocessed at least 100 Lyman sights in the last few years (in parts sets, not from Sarco) in the course ofbuilding display and shooting guns. I'd say85% of them have been in excellent condition, but 1/2 of them have damaged pins that hold the ladder.I don't know why this happens. We have to disassemble the sights so we can blue the base to matchthe receiver and 1/2 the time the ladder pin is deformed or flared on one or both ends so it cannot be driven out,and/or the pin is bent and very difficult to drive out and impossible to drive back in unless you straightenit. Maybe 15% of the time some part of the sight slide or ladder is bent, damaged, or missing. This isnot something you notice at a glance, especially if the sight has grease on it which many do. So theodds are in your favor that you will get a good sight, but then again you may get a damaged one whereas mentioned above the damage is not obvious. In this case you will have to return it to exchange itfor a good but both Sarco and Don will do this. Bob
james m
The last time I visited with Don at Omega he had a good supply of Lyman sights on hand. I'd suggest you give him a calland I expect he'll hand pick one for you.Jim
richard w.
I just spoke to Don to order a sight. He says he still has nice ones left. I'll post a picture when it gets here. Thanks again, guys.
richard w.
I received my Lyman sight from Omega. A few dings and the sight ladder has been knocked a little cockeyed, but it's complete and there is lots of finish left on it. http://www.fototime.com/48E4E4ED963706C/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/D209AF5CBF0C779/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/EB3E0BB3451F39C/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/A936A40E8C6D4E6/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/4A8FAD251A47935/orig.jpg
SecondAmend
I got a very nice one from IMA when they were on sale in May of last year. Had to clean the grease/cosmolene off it.
