Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I just want to let you know that I have finished a new book:

U.S. M3 / M3A1 Submachine Gun "Grease Gun"

The book gives an insight into the history of this extraordinary weapon, from its development and the trials at Aberdeen via the manufacturing process to its use in conflicts around the world. It also describes rare versions in different calibers (.30 M1, 9x19), patents, changes in manufacturing and construction drawings, accessories (pouches, tools, training devices, curved barrels, etc.), manuals & instructions, foreign made copies (China, Agentina, etc), silencers, markings, repair and replacements, training on the weapon and ammunition (ball, tracer, etc.). The majority of the illustrations is in color.

- German language only, but I will add a separate English language translation of the full text & captions (55 pages) !!

- 208 pages (bound with hardcover)

- large size (7.9 x 12 inch / 21 x 30 cm)

- 560 illustrations (mostly in color)

Price inclusive shipping by registered mail is:

My English language skills are not perfect enough to translate 200 pages and I can not afford a professional translator to do this job. There is no money to earn with this kind of special interest literature, so where to find someone who will do the translation for free? My only English book is about the Finnish Suomi SMG ... a photo-book with only a few pages of text. So for the next few years this book will only be available in German language. But it contains 560 illustrations ;-)

I might have to get one if there are that many pictures. Where did you come up with the comparison pics of the 45 vs 9mm barrels?

There is no hurry ... I have lots of books left. These pics (and some others) are from Frank Iannamico.

I made a minor photo contribution to the book (Guide Lamp employee badge), and just purchased a copy. This book is very well done. While it is in German, its profuse illustration makes it a very good reference for anyone interested in the M3/M3A1. I would not let the German language printing discourage you from purchasing it, if you have a serious interest in the subject.

My wife speaks German, so if I really need help, I don't have to go far. Google translator is also your friend...

I bought this book as well. Very well done and very sharp. I do wish however the author would at least offer an English translation addendum for the photos alone, as the book is filled with exceptional captions. Until then, when time prevails, goggle translation for them will have to do. Anyone willing to do this and post?

@David: Thanks a lot for the kind words about my book!! Good to hear that you like it :-)

Maybe I can do an English edition in the far future. But for the moment I have enough other things to do ... like to rebuild my basement after our town was hit by a flood this summer. Shit happens ..
