Another Thompson Related Question

Recommended Posts

I’ve read and heard of a “thing” called a loader. It’s for Thompson magazines? Someone place a post on Sturmgewehr, some time ago, about he had a magazine loader for the Thompson. And, the only thing I can imagine is a cloth belt loader for a 1919, because he wanted a few hundred dollars for it. I e-mailed that person asking about a picture, if he could e-mail me and the only thing I got was a reply asking if I had a Thompson. Does this magazine loader look like a Grease gun loader? And, if it’s not that, does anyone have a picture that they could e-mail me or tell what this "thing" looks like?

As always, any help would be great…..

If we're talking about TSMG stick mags, of all the mags in the world which are so wonderfully designed as to absolutely not need any kind of loader, the Thompson mags have to be at the top of the list. A loader would be approximately as useful as a special tool for cutting toilet paper from the roll.

Hmmm. On second thought, there might be an unlimited E-Bay fools' market for those.

GeeZe LouiZe who's been loading your mags... I need you to come to our next machine gun shoot to show me how it is done... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/hail.gif I sell the Cammenga Easyloader and it works really slick on AR's, AK's and the like, I would love to have that for the Thompson and my MAC's but they have not developed one that works as of yet......

Z- when you get to the house, I'll show you how easy a Thompson mag is to load. Simply push straight down from the top. It don't get no easier.

Last shoot after about 40 of em my fingers were bleeding..... I guess I'm just a sissy....

So you're going to make me load mags for room and board? Sounds ok to me... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif

But the false economy of motion here is that, with the same time it takes to load cartridges into the loader, you could have loaded them into the magazine.

I don't think you get it... With the speed loader there is no pressing down with a click for every single round pushed into the magazine. Add to that the fact that the pressure to press it in place is greater with each round. With a loader you "drop" the rounds into the loader, then in "one" motion it pushes all the ammo into the mag. Like I said maybe you all have tougher fingers than I do...... And I garuntee that you can not load a mag as fast w/o a loader as with....

That is exactly what I have.

Even you still have that silver sticker on the side and it should have the name who built it.

Sure the Thompsons mags are easy to load, but as with any other loader when you get to mag number 20 you sure do appreciate it.

I have one of those pictured loaders. The address of the gun shop I bought it from is on the side of it, but another guy called them recently and he had no more and was not making any more. Best bet to watch for a use done.
