Gordon Herigstad took these photos of his West Hurley "Thompson" fitted with a Richardson "Combination Scope Base" and red dot optical scope.
Gordon says the set up yields extremely accurate fire. The scope base duplicates the profile of the Lyman rear sight so the gun fits in cases designed to "pocket" the sight. If the sight is removed, a notch on the base returns the gun to a standard fixed sights configuration.
Unfortunately all scope bases are out of Richardson stock, but like the bolt handles, there is hope.

Doug has just had his 8th eye operation. If all goes well, the bandage comes off today and things should improve thereafter.
