  1. The difference is bump stocks were involved in mass shootings. Antique, full autos have not. Im highly doubtful this niche market will be targeted next, as the lawmakers are focused on what is impacting the public. They are more concerned about ARs.
  2. Geez, the Colts go for so much. Looks like it is still way better to go with a private sale for Colt guns.
  3. Here are a few Chinese Thompsons from the Peoples Military Museum I visited sometime 10 years ago while in Beijing. Yes, the Chinese made their own, one was a 7.62mm variant, I believe built in Shanxi. The other, with the swivel on buttstock and barrel were made .45 caliber.
  4. I really hate asking stupid questions but I will...Im coming from Oro Valley about 90 minutes south of Phoenix. Is the trip worth it? I am not that interested in any of the other firearms except for Thompsons at the show, especially Colts. Im looking to network some more and talk about purchasing in the future. Please be honest, would it be worth the trip up? Or will it be a small display consisting of a Savage gun? Ill also only be able to attend on Friday. Please let me know of any atmospherics on the show you can provide. Thanks in advance.
  5. Forgive my ignorance at this but I am new to understanding the Colt guns. The stain on the wood appears different than other Colts Ive seen for sale. Is it due to the gun not being restained or oiled again? I believe reading somewhere the Colt wood by Remington had a dull finish (Such as here) as opposed to the glossier finishes Ive seen on other guns over the years. Correct?
  6. Im guessing they were using West Hurleys for the production of the film?
  7. Silly question but are Thompsons usually seen at the SAR show? This is in my backyard, never been to one and just curious
  8. Ive been in and out of this hobby. Its on my list next to finally pull the trigger on the Thompson, sometimes cars, underwater video systems, shark trips, and other toys have priorities; but I think a Thompson is in my near future as I want to knock this one off the list, Ive been wanting one pretty much my whole life. As I begin to revisit this hunt, where is the best place to buy a gun? Id prefer a Colt. Im assuming: -Best place to buy is the forum and a private sale -Is Rock Island a good source? Premiums seem high but the guns look nice. -Last resort would likely be a source like autoweapons, Im guessing...? Thanks for the tips. Oh, and a nice little Colt Thompson breakdown video here on YouTube... Reminds me of a very informative video Gijive did several years ago.
  9. I agree, I don't buy that argument either. Though I do wonder if sale prices or demand will increase slightly by 2021 and the 100th Anniversary.
  10. Just by scanning the forum and looking at the history of several guns it seems a lot of Colt guns were sold in the mid to late 1930s. My question is, were Colt sales really that slow in the 1920s? Also, were guns sold in any order, not necessarily numerically? In other words, when an order came in did they just randomly pull from the inventory or was it done in numerical order? I do not have Herigstad's book so I apologize in advance for the question.
  11. Links to the two guns for sale. http://www.davidspiwak.com/1928_%28sn-7890%29.html http://www.davidspiwak.com/1921_%28sn-11815%29.html
  12. The one's I had inquired about were the 1921ACs, completely different guns. Not sure if this is your confusion or not. Cheers!
  13. So I'm guessing these Colts should probably go for 35 to 40k?
