  1. Bring lots of water. Its dry in the desert @!!!! I to have been attending off and on since 2004 when they opened up.
  2. Sorry to be so late on this topic (Big Sandy is now over with), but in the initial days the Big Sandy, there were a couple of older guys that would shoot them. I'm and old guy always wanted one, but never found one that I would be happy with. But in the early days, I remember Bob Faris had one (brought it up to shoot maybe one time), but most of the older guys that had them no longer attend for varies reasons. My last attendance was a couple of years ago and I can't remember seeing one recently.
  3. Chris - Nice gun. I'm not in the market for another belt fed, my ANM2 keeps me rather poor. But if the buyer doesn't want to buy the ammo or just part of it, I would be interested in the tracers. Thanks
  4. That could be ? I originally thought that they were there to improve flow of the spent cartridge or reduce the chance of jamming since cartridge is basically falling out ? But after looking at the British version, they have cutouts in the front, but none in the back ?
  5. I was asked a question awhile back, that I couldn't answer. I have a Savage built ANM2 in .30 call. Its been a good gun over the years. I was asked while I was re-assembling it, "What do the cutouts that are on the top of the barrel extension do" ? I starred at that part for a long time and really had NO ANSWER ??? So I hope somebody here has an answer, because now I'm curious. See the attached file on what I'm talking about. A hearty Thank you for those that have an answer.
  6. I bought a 550b in 1989. My son and myself loaded thousands upon thousands of pistol rounds for 5 years. The machine never missed a beat with the exception of feeding primers (mostly our fault - found out we needed to clean that primer system once in a whlle). Needless to say had that machine until 2007 (I upgraded to a 650 then). I noticed twice back in the 90's that the handle would move laterally as much as the veritcal movement. We never cleaned or greased that machine ever. Took it in to Dillon - they said no problem, 1 week later I get call to come and pick it up. Guess what a new machine was waiting for me. Took it back in the for much of the same problem in 2006 - they did the same thing. But then I got hooked on the 650 and the old 550 in perfect shape is now on a shelf at my sons house.
  7. If you leave the NFA weapons in Wisconson, no problem.
  8. Here is a link that provides further info on Bob F. http://www.koreanwar-educator.org/memoirs/faris_bob/index.htm#Contents
  9. Yes they were taking MAC 11 serial #'s and then thru many form 3/4 transfers, altering the Mac 11 description and making it a MG42. PS: the MG42 was a post sample gun in reality. The lawful buyers lost their butts. All of the weapons that they found, were considered contraband and were taken from the owners. The story that I heard on how they got caught is novel. Some BATF employee, decided he wanted to buy a transferable 1919a4. So he seen an ad and went to the dealer who had the gun and looked it over and it was nice. Supposedly he place a down payment to hold the gun. Recorded its serial number and took it to work. Even though that this is supposedly illegal, he had a buddy of his at ATF run the serial #. What brought suspicion, was the buyer was told it was a one owner gun by the dealer, but after multiple back searches the gun had 10 transfers in the last 5 years (PS: this was when xfers were a bit quicker). And that is the end of the story. PS: I used to by ammo from Idan many years ago.
  10. I'm a newby to the Board. I'm also a fairly new AC556 owner, with a problematic gun. My AC556 will not stay in the full-auto mode, and usually won't got into the mode at all. I'm having a lot of trouble getting it fixed, and I wondered if anyone has any drawings, diagrams, or specifications for an AC556--especially the receiver and the trigger mechanism. It appears that the posterior part of the receiver is bent slightly upward (superiorly), causing the interior part of the attached selector switch to rest in a more superior (or higher) position than it should. This results in the projection on the switch to only partially engage the trigger mechanism in the full-auto position. To put it differently, the switch projection only goes half-way down into the slot in the trigger mechanism. I know this is a little hard to follow verbally. I'll try to insert a picture or diagram in another post. I can understand how your having this problem, but How did the receiver get bent ?? Pretty hard to do on a cast steel item (not saying it can't be done). Next Is the gun in an original Stock ?? Need some more answers. Also you may want to Join UZITALK. They have a section dedicated to the AC556.
  11. You should get the trust reviewed in your new state. Not all states have the same rules as it relates to trusts.
  12. As the title says a heads up, found that Numrich has ANM2 barrels for $60 shipped. They are a bit rough (rust) on the outside, but the chamber and rifling is perfect. My bore erosion gage showed at a 10 (like new). Good deal.
  13. All I can say is VERY very Nice. Some day I need to find some extra cash and buy one of them.
  14. I know Rich makes a pintel mounted system, but I'm not sure it works with a 1917 tripod. Check his website -> BFS Store
  15. Found one - Thx for looking. Still looking for a ANM2 backplate - Or a replacement Buffer tube will work. If you have one email me @ ANM2_manXXX@hotmail.com Thx Remove XXX
