  1. I have you taken care of. Thank you DZelenka. Picture coming tonight.
  2. Thought I'd share a photo of a rare original early 1928 Savage stock with the slightly slimmer contour and super rare early Stamped Number of "91". If only the buttplate and Slide # matched..... The buttplate with it was #6910 and Slide #'d 6908...
  3. Now all you need is a Type 1 Compensator for that Colt barrel! Doug Richardson has 3 listed Colt Type 1s compensators on his website for I think $550 each. He's in Belize right now, but he leaves his number, if you call his main phone number on the website, if your interested, my friend. Maybe you can talk him down, but he's a stickler. Great find, congratulations!
  4. It kind of drives up the price for giantpanda4, the more individuals know about the Thompson auctions. It is much better after the bidding is over to talk about the auctions, so the individuals out there finding them on their own and doing the searching have less bidders. I know your heart is in the correct place azboater and I love your contributions of the photos. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I have a replica Colt 21A barrel turned already with .055 width fins, but I kind of would of liked to use a real colt Thompson barrel to go on the Doug Richardson Colt 21 receiver I'm using for the Colt 21A replica. It's not worth wasting or paying the price for a serviceable Colt 21A barrel, but one that someone can't use anymore would be perfect. That one on Ebay was an aftermarket 1928 one I believe, even though no threads for the comp. That would not look correct for my project, but thank you for the try!
  6. Hello and good day to you all. I am starting to get ready to work on my Colt Thompson 21A replica project for this year. I finished my Colt 21AC replica project last year, right before the July TATA event. I haven't shared the pictures on the board, but if you guys are interested in seeing the detail of the Replica 21AC, let me know and I'll post pictures. I was wondering if anyone out there may happen to have a Colt Thompson 21A barrel that was worn out and or bulged for sale, that I could use for my 21A replica project? Any help greatly appreciated. Please PM me or drop a response. Wish you all the best.
  7. The best "carry" handgun is an actual pistol that you are actually going to carry with you daily. My meaining is the larger the pistol, the more pain of concealing, putting the holster on, the weight/pain of having it on makes many not conceal carry all the time. So the point is simple, small, easy to carry, lightweight, stopping power, can throw it in a pocket, and doesn't waste a large amount of time to put it on is the best pistol for carry.. My favorite I use is a Ruger LCP .380, with a lasermax, pocket concealment holster, with critical defsense .380 ammo and I throw a spare magazine in my other pocket. With the small pocket holster you can put it in a front or rear pocket of your pants and just looks like a wallet. Super easy and quick to carry. Yes I have a plethora of other "compact" and standard size automatics and revolvers I can carry, but simplicity and ease is the way. I also really like my Glock 27. 40 cal for the sheer firepower/velocity, but even though it's compact it's still big and more of a pain to carry. The baby glocks/single stacks are very nice for concealed carry that they came out with in .380 and 9mm. Have a great day!
  8. Original is original, nothing better. Yes with age everything gets rough looking and older looking. That is what makes it what it is... Leave it all original, unless your getting a piece so rough that there is no other option. It's basically like re-bluing a Colt 21 Thompson that is rough... Much better to leave it original, unless your are so talented that you can pull off that original Carbonia blu finish. You have to appreciate the road it has been on in it's life. Everyone likes "NOS" stuff, but the stuff that has really been used has the "stories" we will never know. We are all perfectionists at heart, I believe, who enjoy this particular part of history, but we have to understand that 80 years old + means old. :-). I really like it and I thought about bidding and I can't even own a real 1921 Thompson in my state. Someday maybe in the future; it's not the money it's the laws, though I feel prices are inflated.... Enjoy and congratulations to whoever purchased it! Sincerely, Keith
  9. Congratulations to your son on becoming a Marine; I know you must be proud. A great historical picture of "Chesty". Again thank you for you being considerate to all and sharing all the wonderful photos.
  10. Pin levers, you would probably prefer "S" Savage marked. If you need some contact me.
  11. azboater, Great pictures. You do a great job of finding all these old pictures and sharing them. Thank you.
  12. Wow, what great history and photographs. Sometimes when the traffic is bad on Interstate 55, I take the back way into Chicago to go to Midway Airport and drive right by that area.
  13. Enjoy it. That is why you purchased it. You can still get "P" proofed Savage barrels for it, for replacement. Get some internals you want to beat on by firing it; the internals are cheap or get PK 1921 Modded 1928 internals so you get the higher cyclic rate. That is much more enjoyable and smooth. If it has the original barrel, take it out for the originality and put a brand new "P" proofed savage barrel in it for $400 and go to town. You won't hurt the gun. Congratulations again, I only wish my state would allow them.
  14. AZboater, Great pictures. Thank you for sharing. I love the pic of the M1 with the 28 finned barrel and compensator. More proof of in Theatre repairs utilizing parts they had on hand. I particularly like how the M1 looks with a finned barrel and comp. Though it's not original, the rarity of the look makes it look cool.
  15. Sandman 1957: As a "fellow" paratrooper I totally agree with your assessment. Good Call.
  16. I second that Gunslinger. Always invest in precious metals: Gold, Silver, and Lead :-)
  17. Great Price and I don't think you will find it at a lower cost. PSA has lots of deals; I have purchased from them in the past and never had an issue.
  18. There have been the Gordon Reproduction Spare Parts boxes coming up on Ebay about once every two weeks if you watch the auctions for one.
  19. Very nice suit and dress up GiantPanda, very nostalgic . How many people usually attend the TCA annual show and shoot? I'm am luckily off all the weekends in September, so I was thinking about attending. It sounds like a good time and meeting some new people and others I met at the TATA event.
  20. Next I am going to be building a Colt 21A replica Thompson and I picked up a lower frame and went thru my parts and I am short of a Sear Lever and a 1928 Rocker Pivot Selector. I'll need to send the controls out to PK to get the replica 21 modification to them, so I'll need the parts to send. Does anyone have an extra Sear Lever and a 1928 Rocker Pivot you can get rid of? If so please PM me and let me know what you would take for the two lower frame parts. I appreciate the help. Have a great day guys.
  21. It was a very nice enjoyable show and shoot. The shooting was very enjoyable, especially the steel plates. I would like to see a farther distance on the steel plates next year, this could make the competition also more interesting with possible misses when you are competing against the other shooter. (The mag change added in on the semi-finals killed my time since I wasn't proficient in a Thompson quick mag change, but it did add an additional level of stress and separated times). It was great to meet everyone that attended. A wealth of knowledge and great displays. Thank you to all that attended and I appreciate the individuals who spent their own time to converse with me and answer questions. A special thank you to the Hill family to opening your home again this year for the event and Tracie has a most impressive display that was great to be able to see. As a first timer attendee I appreciate all attendees and the hard work from the board members/Range Safeties of putting it all together. I hope I am able to attend next year, but I just found out I'm looking at a possible deployment training event at a CTC next year and a year deployment in 2017, so I hope my July 2016 is open to attend. Thank you all again and a special thank you to Chuck for the opportunity, driving out with you, your time, friendship and you allowing me to shoot your Colt 1928 in the paper match; a beautiful Colt 1928. Thank you Larry for allowing me to shoot your Colt 21 in the steel plate match and the free shoot after; it was most enjoyable, beautiful Colt 21 and your friendship. Tino and your lovely wife thank you for allowing me to shoot your M1A1 and the HK MP5!
  22. As a first timer attending this year I am looking forward to the event and time. I have been working the last two weekends and weekdays, so looking forward to the opportunity to get away and talk/meet the individuals attending. I look forward to seeing all the displays. I look forward to a good time and good company. Sincerely, Keith Koca
  23. Paul, Wow you have the same cap! I would say that this proves there is this rare variant out there. Pretty interesting cap/oiler and looks like it is pretty rare! Looking forward to more individuals to chime in on the topic. I wonder if GIJive have seen these before?
  24. This is a Urethane M1 buffer. Does it look like the Doug Richardson one?
