  1. inertord Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. SAW23015
  2. I have a M60 and the Maker, Manufacture and or Importer listed on my Form 4 is John Gibson Wakins. Can't find out anything about him via Google or other searches. Anyone know him or have any information about him. The listed serial number of the gun begins with JGW and then four numbers. I'm just trying to compile a little history of the gun. It runs great and is fun to shoot. Thanks, SAW23015.
  3. Steve, It's been a great shooter and I have enjoyed it. Andy
  4. Thanks for the info Tom I really appreciate it. I think you are correct that my gun was sold at the auction described in the information you provided. Also, thank you Steve for your help. It's always interesting finding out the history of any of the surviving Thompsons. I am amazed at the amount history concerning Thompsons that can be found in books and from people like you two guys. Hopefully there is more out there that I will learn. Thanks much...
  5. TD. The earliest form in my packet is a Form 5 dated 8 Aug 1973.
  6. TD. Thanks for the response. After going back and looking at the Form 3 it actually says APD 17. So the one you saw could have come from the same place as mine. Seems to indicate a Police Department getting rid of multiple Thompsons...
  7. I purchased a 1928 AC from Sandman1957 on this board in May of 2016. It's a great gun and a very good shooter. Reviewing the paperwork I received from ATF as a result of my FOIA request I noticed on a Form 3 approved on 20 Nov 1973 in section 6.h. (Other marks of identification on the firearm) it states that A.P.D. is marked on the left side of the receiver. It is not there now and is not indicated on any subsequent forms and there have been several transfers after 20 Nov 1973. I would like to know if anyone on this board owns or has seen a TSMG with APD marked on the receiver. Most AC guns went to police departments so APD may stand for Atlanta Police Department or some other police department whose name begins with A. There are no noticeable grind marks on the receiver other than where the US before the serial # was removed and the 1 was replaced with a C at the end of the serial number making it an AC.
  8. I received Stick Loader #100 today and it is a work of art. It shows that Jon is a master woodworker for sure. It will make a great conversation piece. Thanks Jon, great work.
  9. I'll go $350. I currently have one of yours, great craftsmanship.
  10. I use Winchester white box and have never had a problem.
  11. Oh, Atllaw hope your Thompson gets out of jail soon, love shooting my 1928AC Bridgeport...
  12. Thanks for the new pictures. Sure don't see how it could be a double struck P. Looks like an R to me, cool...........
  13. Here is a serif R on a 1928 hammer. I have two Remington 1928 hammers. The list of WW2 manufacturers I have looked at do not include Remington as a hammer manufacturer. There are some similarities to the barrel stamp but a clear photograph of the barrel letter stamp is needed. The proof P stamp are typically not stamped at 9 o'clock on the barrel. If it is a double strike why is there a "serif" line on the bottom of the R leg on one stamping but not the second strike or bounce? That is a very clear R... Good point....... Thanks....
  14. Thanks for the reply.... That would mean I still have not seen a Remington barrel...
  15. Thanks, this is the first AOC marked barrel I've ever see. Wonder if any Model 1928A1 barrels were marked AOC....
  16. Thanks this is the first Remington barrel I have ever seen. Having seen lots of Stevens and Savage barrels in person and in various publications but no Remington barrels I would think they are rarer. Great picture thanks.......
  17. On page 287 of my copy of American Thunder (Third Edition) by Frank Iannamico it states that Thompson Barrels were manufactured by: Savage Arms (S) Utica, New York. Remington Arms ® Ilion, New York. Auto-Ordance (AOC) Bridgeport, Connecticut. Stevens Arms Company (5) Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. However, I have never seen or heard of anyone having an Auto-Ordance (AOC) or a Remington ® marked barrel. Does anyone have either one of these or do they really exist.
