  1. Haven't had the chance to watch many sales for a bit this year, watching Morphy auction today. Good lord I hadn't realized how low prices are for things now. Wonder if that is temporary or beginning of a trend down
  2. That right there is the best example of wishful thinking I have ever seen. Gunbroker no longer enforces actions against people who don't complete transactions. You have to have MULTIPLE MULTIPLE F ratings before they will do something against them (i.e. banning them or closing the account). they have unfortunately started to follow ebays example. Gunbroker used to be great on this, now, not so much
  3. General overall paypal warning story. 2 years ago, sold a Colt SP1 3x20 Realist scope (real early version). Took paypal. Long story short, paypal froze account for selling "machinegun parts" which violated their TOS. Not just the sale price of the scope, but the whole stinking account (over $7500) Why machinegun parts you ask, because I certainly asked. Well, it fits on an M16 so thus as an M16 this is a machinegun part (try to explain to a 17 year old girl in India it is not a machinegun part, because this gal who has never seen a scope, nor a m16 is the one in charge of the arbitration and there is nothing that will change with that, who they assign is who they assign). Two years later this is still not resolved and still frozen. so yeah, take paypal at your own risk.
  4. No offense intended by my next comment. You think it should be heavily regulated. May I ask why. The murder he committed was already illegal and didn't stop him. If the bumpstocks were (and or now ARE) illegal, it wouldn't have stopped him. I can honestly convert most any semi auto into a full auto in less than an hour. So it really does not do a spits worth of good if your being honest about things. I think machineguns should be cash and carry just like semi autos. Because honestly, if someone is doing something as illegal as shooting a bunch of people, one more law does not stop anything. Not sure why that is hard for people to understand.
  5. I was in the running on the C&R Uzi also, but bailed slightly before $40. Prices may have seemed low, but also realize, they tacked on an industry leading buyers premium of 26%. That adds up in a hurry and contributed to me keeping my bids lower than I normally would have gone. 26 stinking % just wow, I mean really, why not just go 100% and be done with it.
  6. Just an FYI. The reason the Eagle was not included in the letter from the ATF was that by design it was actually one of the only open bolt rifles that was NOT readily adaptable for use as a machinegun. Due the design of the inner workings, if you tried to remove the dis-connector it would cause the firearm to jam. Rather an ingenious design actually and one that would take a MAJOR rework of ALL the interior parts to get it to work full auto, unlike the open bolt KG9 and etc.. Again, this is why the ATF never bothered with it. Little knowledge goes a long way.
  7. so they have your money still and now you have nothing. makes sense to me
  8. You have posted this 4 times now, and I still have not figured out why. Are you asking what that auction # brought? If so, it brought $1955
  9. Sure, but. Seeing as some do indeed sell at $40,000 to $55,000 on auction, your telling me that you would be willing to sell yours for $25,000? Just curious because people always say, "oh that's just auction prices". Okay, but you would kinda be foolish to sell one anywhere other than an auction if that is the prices being realized. I don't know if you track many RIA sales, but most MP40's are running pretty solid over $35,000 now.
  10. The beater MP40 went for something like $19,500 before BP (total around $23000) and the other went for $37500 before BP(total around $44,000) (if I remember correctly, I wasn't bidding on those).
  11. With buyers premium, depending on how they pay for it, a pretty nice FXO went for over $55,000 ($47,500 plus buyers premium). just wow
  12. Eagles are exempt, not mentioned in the original IRS ruling. For a time ATF held that so long as the trigger frame attachment bolts were "welded" over even semi Spitfires were exempt from the old IRS ruling. Doubt that still stands though Do you mean you doubt the Spitfire exemption still stands or the Eagle exemption? If the latter, do you think it's likely, at least 50/50, the ATF will actually know what I'm talking about and / or see that it's not specifically designated a machine gun and give me the go ahead? Specifically the Spitfire exemption via welding Eagles were never part of the original IRS letter DO NOT get ATFE involved 1st of all the field office knows zip, anything they would tell you is meaningless and half the time field agents are about clueless The real resource would be the Firearms Technical Branch however they likely will demand you send it in to them for a "determination" and that may result in them declaring Eagles NFA, again there is no practical difference between the two guns other than the name on them The Bureau is notorious for reversing gears when well meaning folks press things Leave good enough alone please. So just to be clear, your advice is to either buy the gun and hope nobody asks questions, the answers to which could put me in federal prison, or not buy the gun? oh good lord, your not going to go to prison over this rifle, they are bought and sold all the time
  13. Just to add my two cents here also, my AC which was a police gun and never refinished does not have "silver" rivets either. Generalizations on the internet are a bad thing and this is a great example. One person makes a statement, ten people quote that, ten people quote that ten and now as 100 people have said it, it is fact.
  14. Mine has no movement whatsoever any direction, locks up dead tight.
