  1. Uhhhh, yes, they are!!! You know what they say if you have to ask you can't afford it!!! Haha
  2. He tried to scam me on an MG34 ammo can. He says he doesn't have it bit his friend is "honest" and has one for sale same email. Just smelled fishy to me.
  3. I had a chance to trade into an MAT49 plus cash for one of my MP40s. Had to take a very hard pass on that one too. Just looks like an even uglier MAC to be honest. Also passed on a Lanchester. Just snagged a Beretta 38/42 which is much cooler than both these guns put together I think.
  4. Had a chance to buy one at 7.5k and took a hard pass. Mostly a wall hanger door stop I would say. The one I saw was also converted to 380 but also took original French Long. I would say NO MORE than 5k if you REALLY want it. I'd rather buy a Sten to be honest.
  5. Hello, I'm waiting on my paperwork for a C&R Sten MKII. I was just wondering if I posted my serial number could someone maybe tell me about when my gun was produced? It is a real Amnesty Gun with original paperwork.
  6. I think it was the fact that you were using flat nose bullets. I only use the round nose period.
  7. These are getting harder to find than hen's teeth. Everybody wants to buy but nobody wants to sell. You might have to compromise. Morphys.com has an auction next week with a few available. You might have to bite the bullet and pay the price if you want one.
  8. My friend just bought a minty Wilson tube from Frank for 17k. I would say 15k to 16k would be a fair offer.
  9. I have a 122 40 gun with a letter "a" suffix and it is also marked in 14 places. Some parts like the firing pin only marked with last two numbers of serial number.
  10. Nice little clip. They are rarer than the ribbed ones but I think the ribbed ones look cooler.
  11. The one from Frank is what you should buy. Not cheap but super rare.
  12. What Museum is this Tommy Gun in? The Lake and Porter County Sheriffs Office each have one Thompson used by Dillinger. They brought them out for the 75th Anniversary of his death or maybe it was capture.
  13. Check your mailbox. Weld is between buttstock and back of receiver. Welds look very nice, original finish but no finish where weld is.
  14. Hello, I have the chance to maybe pick up a pair of beltfed MGs. One MG42 and one MG34. They are both marked "MD ORD McHenry Ill." The owner says they both run great and the welds look nice on both guns. So my question is what are rewelds worth? 10% 20% 50% less than a C&R gun? Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Wow, some really cool stuff Ron. My very early MP40 with a suffix has a numbered matching magwell. My bakelite is not marked but the firing pin AND recoil spring assembly are.
  16. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually think it is an attractive looking gun. I really like the ones with mixed finishes: original finish, bare metal and patina. I also like the advice on buying a decent MP40 and possibly upgrading later otherwise you might be waiting a long long time to find the exact gun you want. I've been collecting over 20 years and can tell you most guys keep their MP40(s) a very long time. And if it is a super nice one, many guys will want that exact same gun. Sometimes you have to settle and then the wait begins....
  17. That is a pretty crazy price for a non-matching gun. It says the firing pin doesn't match. Finish is kinda rough.
  18. I have too but everything seems to be selling now driving prices up. Even with true 100% matching guns you will not get everything you want unless you are willing to pay a lot. It may be all matching but the finish might be nice but not perfect. Most C&R guns are a mix between original finish, bare metal and patina. Personally, those are my favorites because they tell a story. I do agree though some are nicer than others and each collector has to figure out what he can live with.
  19. One other thing, you can never compare a tube gun to a C&R gun. The quality of a C&R gun is unmatched by a tube. Realistically, you can only compare a tube gun to another tube gun.
  20. I think your analogy is flawed. I mean that's like telling a guy that collects FG42s well you can get a Lorcin for a lot less. The guy that is buying a C&R MP40 is most likely buying it as a collector gun. The guy that is buying a tube gun MP40 is buying more than likely to shoot the crap out of it. Combat weapons are also given some leeway when grading them. These were used by a brave German soldier under extreme conditions. You are trying to compare it to a new gun or one that has been redone. If you want to find a minty C&R MP40, you will pay dearly for the opportunity. 40k to 50k is routine today and they very rarely come up.
  21. I looked at all his pictures and the gun looks 100% original finish to me. Not an expert but have studied them for a quarter century. Boy, I'm getting old!
  22. This is strictly a hypothetical question. If you had the choice between an early MP40 one coded 122 40 with an "a" suffix all factory original and matching that is just as it left the factory with the early cocking handle OR the exact same gun with a three digit serial number BUT has the modified cocking handle? Which would be cooler for you the really low serial number or the unmodified gun??? Just curious...
  23. I don't know where you are at but I certainly would recommend Scottsdale Gun Club in Scottsdale AZ. I have used them for an MP40 and a WW2 Luger that needed work. Cheap and fast like 2 weeks. Give them a call and see what they say. I hope this helps because it has to suck to spend so much money and Ruben can't be bothered with you now that he has your money.
