reichstall replied to Duza9999's topic in Reising Message Board
Yes i had the same thing happen to my stepfather while they lived in Florida -
so yes i think it can be done but to heat treat cherry red oil dip than bring up to a straw color to heat treat there are several temp to harden but i like straw

So, I am fairly new to the game about all I was willing to pay was 7500 for a Reising. I have money so that would not be an issue to pay up for something in 6 figures but why I don't shoot that many friends shoot once and done. so, what good is paying big money for a safe queen. Yes, I like my gun no I not ready to sell. But let's looks at guns as an Invesment .Let's say the gov says no more nfa they kill people. your Invesment is gone in a blink of the eye, and they know where to come and get them do you think they will give you 40 grand before they take it? So, I think we ourselves have run up the prices for greed. Is there a answer ask the govt.

Yeah, I see this stuff for sale all the time and hate to say it when something goes bad I put it in an old powder jar to dispose of at a later time, so I am guilty also. -

Oh, for sure it is a naval gun blah blah it is worth millions. Just kidding It really is a head scratcher for sure but to be honest I would have bought it also. -
So, I have seen many times these scums come in after someone dies and just give pennies on the dollar. for guns. I try to tell all my older clients if something happens let me know I will help them get top dollar for them I want nothing in return. I am not on good terms with the sleaze I wonder why?

Ok sorry it has been a couple of days. Don't get me wrong it is all good whether they match or not is of no importance to me. I was just stating it is high odds that things won't match. and I agree when they do, and it is without a doubt they are real they should and do command top tier prices. But on that note, there is a company in Poland that is reproducing stamps that match original stamps to a tee also inspectors stamp that we see often, so there is a market, and it is being stamped, or there would not be a manufacture producing these. I am a German dagger collector, and it is a mind field where one small thing or stamp can mean thousands of dollars difference. As for finish this is also a big difference in daggers so I am sure it would carry over into firearms so many different was to age an item wear marks and such. Whenever there is a chance to make a buck, these folks will go to great lengths to do it. The best resource is the online forums that can and do offer help. But as we have seen the bad guys read them too and change their stuff to match what we are saying. I have seen fake stamps that have been made with an error that was seen in the original stamp 80 years ago. But in the end, it falls down to do you like it and what are you willing to pay. By the way been burned for several thousand before. -

So, I am not at all looking to make a fusss. But these guns went through a war and multiple change of hands where no one cared about numbers. So, I find it weird that we make it a deal when it comes to numbers. Yes, some parts are hand fit so numbers truly make a difference and are a large thing. But in reality, I wonder how many that were not picked up off the battlefield and brought back have all numbers matching. Are we promoting an industry to fake numbers matching. The collector car industry has been challenged to the point they are doing metallurgy to forensic id suspected numbers matching high end vehicle. Is this where we are heading. -

Ok so I am a single male all your daughters can just marry me. But all kidding aside in my case I truly have no one worth a damn to give stuff too. They all have there greedy hooks out now wanting to know what I plan on doing. I have for years told people I do not believe in banks and have buried it on the property 79 acres. They ask if I left a map I say no just clues. I plan on putting rolls of quarters here and there just to keep them digging. But my real plan is to sell it all before then. But in case I don't oh well let them dig. -
