  1. During my eBay surfing I noticed a fake Reising pouch, though being sold as Thompson pouch. USMC markings have different font, the markings overall are sharp and the male LTD strip is not as high as Reising pouches have them. Here's the link, he's selling three of them at the moment: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364624284693?itmmeta=01HPJ09W0YCCDVJMAWFS5C31E4&hash=item54e54d0c15:g:lM4AAOSwSA9ldnIS&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4BneOz%2FSAYcFt%2FTxaEJ6NEathVPQrO14FHZLVALLtGARguZ3BkYs0c6PxV56hAShjxtC1GhOhsI%2FsGKmffhyTRfy%2Bwm15UiS1xOJEHHgwGlXYdae6pnB1Wch8TVoTPj%2FW87Mhr9PxVP%2Bc%2Bh6C8uowN6f9AL0N7K%2BxBkCCzVM%2BMOhZALtjALawg%2BPvVxT%2B%2BSeQP2Tk%2BiK6%2FP8HZOqBETXe%2Fj9F7sMZZvxQIvuZHu7FunYLudztmz%2FgPwWwR2OFWMAnNrLwyjyLdRIT1U9TXs2AEl5Gwh%2FAR2UOX6ywvVhspoC|tkp%3ABk9SR8jAp8C0Yw
  2. This should be the first and second pattern/type of OD3 jump cases. For comparison, the last photo shows Camo jump case, type 1, OD3 jump case type 2 and Camo jump case type 1 (similar to OD3 type 1). (not my photos)
  3. It does help, thanks. Since I live in Czechia, getting original parts here is almost impossible, so I asked Reising owners for dimensions and I'll be making them all from scratch. Well, for barrel I got airsoft M1928 Thompson barrel and I ordered Marshall's Arsenal dummy magazine.
  4. Hello. I'm working on a replica of Reising and one of dimensions I can't guesstimate from photos is internal diameter of the receiver (viewed as a simple tube). Would there be anyone kind to measure it for me?
  5. I have two questions about this: M55 Jump Bag a) Is the price even right? (I don't intend to buy it, just curious) b) It's labeled 2nd pattern, what's the first? An then there are two patterns of the camo jump bags, right?
  6. I saw them. But they don't ship internationally and even if they did, the price is out of my range.
  7. I will look into this option however I'm still concerned that the parcel could be stopped and both me and re-seller would be in legal trouble. I'm from Czechia. I think there is a way because I know about one Reising in private hands. The owner got it from Iceland and it's post-war manufactured. The other one is in Army Museum Prague, early production. Anyway, I don't have a gun license and I just wanted to make a non-firing replica. That's what I was afraid of.
  8. I would like to build a replica of M50 and M55 Reising using new manufactured parts, but US companies do not ship outside of USA. Does anyone know where to geit either original or repro Reising parts? I don't need internal parts as my intention is to build moving, but non-firing replica.
  9. Oh, right, I understand. However may I ask on what do you base your statement about Reisings certainly being used on Makin? I'm just trying to have as many evidence as possible.
  10. From my photo collection it seems the M50/M55 distribution is not that simple. For example I have a photo of 3rd Marines on Samoa, one of them has an M55 Reising. 5th Marines, boarding on ship in San Francisco, three of them have M55 Reisings.
  11. I was watching a footage of Marine Raiders returning from Makin Island Raid and noticed that (at least) one of them carries an M55 Reising. 02:06 - M55 Reising seen in the hand of the Raider on the right, coming into picture 00:38 - Raider on the left can be seen lowering the M55 Reising; 01:27 - Raider second from left waves his Reising 01:18 - very recognizable M55 Reising Could this be considered a proof of Reisings being used during the raid?
  12. Christmas is nearing and with it comes my annual book purchase. I'm looking for a memoir/autobiography of a Marine in Pacific theatre mentioning Reising SMG. I already know that following books mention it: Battalion of the Damned - James F. Christ (p. 125, 249) Shots Fired in Anger - John B. George (p. 396)
  13. I agree, it was quite naive to expect more realistic looking sling, at least for this price.
  14. I can't see the spacing between the snaps and the page doesn't say anything about the length, but the C-tips are incorect. It should have D-tips.
  15. Yes, Reising slings are similar to M1 Carbine slings. I believe there were three types: leather sling - 42" long, brass buckle and "button" - I understand it was sold on commercial market + sent to USSR with Lend&Lease Reisings "early" canvas sling - 42" long, 2,5" spacing between snaps, D end tabs, no markings (?) "late" canvas sling - 42" long, 4" spacing between snaps, D end tabs, no markings (F-S CO 1943 was discussed to be fake and I don't know if there is a conclusion on U.S.M.C. BOYT -43-) I went through my collection of Reising photos and haven't seen any Kerr slings on the Reisings, only Reising slings. In my opinion it would not be a blasphemy as both the gun and the sling were issued at the same time however I still recommend getting the Reising sling (original or repro). Please correct me if I'm wrong about something.
