mohawk64
Does anyone have any info on this type of Billy? Especially the year of production
dalbert
mohawk64, That looks like a much later billy. My guess is 1970's, but perhaps someone else knows more about it. David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
ron_brock
What address is stamped on the billy? Is it still legible? Should be in the band just above the push button ThanksRon
mohawk64
It has a Pittsburgh address. It looks like wood from a few feet away. Made from steel with a brown coating.
mohawk64
The end where the lanyard goes, has to be unscrewed several turns to preload the firing pin. The number " 1648" is stamped on the inside mech of the firing pin.
mohawk64
Looking at the 1927 federal labs catalog I found the exact picture of this Billy.
dalbert
Well, I was only off by 50 years... David
ron_brock
Well, I was only off by 50 years... DavidI was going to wait to correct you . I was certain these were earlier (should have looked in the catalog). Here are some pics of mine although I could not read the address. I believe these are made of bakelite that is molded around a metal core. It's odd that Tear Gas Munitions does not cover these exact models. mohawk64
Estimated value? Estimated years of production?
mohawk64
I guess this is correct to display with a navy overstamp
ron_brock
Would look good with an overstamp. I would guess they were only made a few years as the leather ringed ones are much more common. Value is tough as I have not seen enough change hands. I would think $300-$400 but that's just a guess. Other than mine, I have only seen one other for sale in the few years I've been into tear gas stuff. Ron
snipershot1944
Not to hijack the thread but I looked at two Federal Labs Billy's tear gas clubs today, one with brass fittings and a 1925 patent date. The other a similar piece with no patent date and alumimum fittings. Any idea of values?
