michaelkih
Picked this up from a seller on gun broker who's high bidder backed out for a very fair price as part of a two gun purchase. The gun has serial numbers from two guns, and all parts still have the original finish. Very pleased for the money, and I've always wanted a non refinished pre may MP40! Anyways, like the grease gun I just bought, what are recommended spare parts to have that actually wear overtime? Thank you!
geefal
I have an original C&R, never messed with matching, blah blah. Can't imagine how many rounds have been through it during the war. I have replaced the recoil assy, firing pin with one from fbp, replaced recoil spring with one from another MP40 (the fbp one was to stout, not sure why as they are both 9mm, but....). Not sure I would have to do that, but don't want to break anything on what is basically one of the only moving parts in it. I have shot, oh, probably 4000 rds through it over the years. Zero parts breakage.
fifthmdec
Great guns, like the Beretta 38 series submachine guns... Have them both...
Grasshopper
Hi, I'm with geefal. Replaced my firing pin assembly with one from an fbp SMG. Then I had to clip the fbp recoil spring a bit so it would run on my 9mm. (I suspect some military stuff may have run hotter than my 9's.) And, like fifthmdec says, great guns. Shoot it! (I'm kinda fond of it and the 38 series Berettas also) You are more than likely aware to take care with the 40's folding stock not being the most robust design. Treated with care, I've not had any trouble with mine. Enjoy, Grasshopper
