R67
Look at the lower right corner of the photo and you will see a captured 1928 Savage. Looks like it has a British web sling and Savage foregrip. This would have been taken somewhere in the Mediterranean 1942 or 1943. The German is a Fallschirmjager Paratrooper. Wanted to share with you all, Happy Holidays.

Renz
Took me a minute to even notice it. All I kept seeing was the rifle. Great eye!
R67
I have been doing a load of photographic research and saw this. First I saw the FJ helmet. Then I noticed the TSMG. It sure would be a cool souvenir to take off a battlefield.

TSMGguy
Thanks for the photo. There's sure a lot in it. Under the potato masher grenades are several rifle grenades. Three clips of 98K ammo just lie in the dirt. There are many egg type grenades, as well. The top box is made of cardboard and contains 15 rd. boxes of clipped 98K ammo. Under it is a can of MG ammo. That guy is certainly prepared to repel an assault. Edited December 27, 2018 by TSMGguy

MG08
almost looks like the photo is for inventory - grenades would not be left out on the ground like that - sort of a "look what we have here" picture.

john
Wonder how many manuals the Germans printed up in German and distributed to their troops for the reuse of these captured Tommyguns?Think there's a picture in the paper reference section here but haven't looked for quite awhile.....
