I took the plunge just before Christmas and purchased "my" M50. My first SMG, one that I could afford - I was nervous/hesitant after I purchased it, but given the magazines and other accessories included in the purchase, I'm tickled. eForm paperwork is complete and my wait begins.

The weapon appears to be in great condition and came with four NIW Christie 30 round magazines, one original early 20 round H&R magazine and one Taiwanese 20 round magazine.  The purchase also came with a spare titanium firing pin and two sealed Christie spring kits, a leather sling, magazine loader and other small parts (five ejectors and screws, late model take-down screw, and a bag of small assorted springs). The serial number shows it to be a 1941 manufactured weapon.

My dealer said to bring ammo and I am welcome to shoot it anytime at his home range. As soon as the weather warms (I live in MT) and I can find my .45 ACP ammo stash I am going to take him up on the offer.   I've spent a lot of time here trying to absorb the wealth of knowledge/experience related to the lifetime owners and will continue to do so. For that I am appreciative and it has helped me take the plunge.

Anything I need to know before I put my first round down range (lol, such a loaded question!).

Thanks to all here who have shared their knowledge and experience here - I almost skipped this purchase after reading about the massive problems some have had with their Reising. This blog and the posts helped me "pull the trigger" with confidence that I can find the remedies I need for issues/problems I may face with this weapon. I just hope this M50 runs and I did not purchase someones problem gun?

When I took possession of mine, I know the Deputys that carried this Dept gun in the early 80s so I knew it would perform to some decent level.   Of course, it sat somewhere from Middle 80s to today's time frame.

I took mine to a smith and had the springs changed with wolf springs and the T firing pin installed and the FCG inspected etc etc.   The smith showed me how to break it down for cleaning and this form told me how to clean it.

The gun shoots flawlessly except for the aftermarket 30 rnd mags having a issue but my 3 20 rounders work fine.

My wait was 13 miserable months hopefully the E form will be faster for you, I added a trust to my gun adding a little more time, but I do not regret it.

You will love shooting it like I do mine and I shoot it at least every week.

I know I have a  steep learning curve on this weapon! Part of the fun is learning from others and the information here and the folks that know the platform are comforting to a newbie! My gunsmith/transfer ffl holder wants to shoot it as badly as I do ... so that is encouraging! I may not be able to bring her home yet - but I can shoot her to see how she runs. The wait for me has just begun - and I cant do a thing but take it; knowing each day gets me closer...

The dealer holding my sweet heart has a public range and I had visitation any time I wanted and I did visit often.   Such visits help with the misery but leaving her there when I left was heart breaking until I got the call to come and pick up your gun,  a very exciting moment after waiting for one year and 7 months.

You will get addicted to ripping off some rounds on a weekly routine, in fact I did just that tonight while I was babysitting at my daughter and son n laws place.     Running a trail of rounds across a pond is exciting as hell.

Understood! I am sure the wait will be worth it. I think my transfer dealer wants to shoot it worse than I do 😄. He's a long range rifle builder and mentioned I may be responsible for him straying ...

I asked him if he owned a machine gun and he replied now I do - for a little while. LOL
