68coupe
I recently bought a 10.5" finned barrel. the fins are squared, as opposed to rounded. It has a "S", a "P" and a witness mark on the shoulder, and threaded for a comp. I'm pretty sure it has never been on a firearm, as the drilling for the Cutts compensator is absent. Can anyone help me ID it. I plan to swap out the M1/M1A1 smooth barrel that I currently have installed. Thanks in advance, Karl, 68coupe
gijive
68Coupe, Your barrel is a WWII Savage made barrel. If it doesn't have a cut for the compensator pin, than you are correct it hasn't been on a gun. WWII barrels are made correctly and are good quality barrels.
