Scott
Just wondering if your guys here can give a close date to when S-93917 was produced?Pictures on older post asking about the GEG stamp.
Rimcrew
Sometime in early 1941, I believe. Savage finished 1940 at S/N 42,954, so depending upon how many they cranked out per month in 1941, yours was sometime before mid-year. If you don't have it, you should get Frank's book, it's a great resource for things like this. Edited March 12, 2019 by Rimcrew
TD.
No one knows the exact serial number where production stopped at Savage Arms on December 31, 1940. However, nearly 44,000 were manufactured in in 1940. No one knows exactly where the serial numbering began at Savage Arms but it was definitely in the early 15,000 serial number range. If 15,000 was the starting number with 44,000 manufactured, it stands to reason that production started in 1941 in or around the 59,000 serial number range. Another 9,222 guns were manufactured in January 1941, 13,068 in February and 18,679 in March. S-93917 was most likely a March 1941 gun. The American Thunder series of books are great!
