jojeep
A Thompson Semi-Auto Butt Stock Adapter Kit is for Sale on GunBroker.Quantity One NOS Kit.Kit allows the 1927A1 Semi to take the 1921/28 style Detachable Butt Stock. This is the more desirable 6 Screw that give more strength and better fit than those 4 Screw or 2 Screw ones would work loose after a while.Apparently these are no longer available from the several sources that made them.Numrich Gun Parts offered them and a older Gentlemen in California offered them too.If a MachineGunBoard member is interested we can work a discount different than GunBroker listing price. Schmootika
I am interested! I had to let go of mine years ago and just recently acquired another West Hurley. My old one I had the complete 1928 lower that I could change out between the two for whatever look I wanted. I can't find a lower at a good price these days. jojeep
I recently closed the Auction.I had a Work Emergency and had to travel to Ohio. I'm not home to receive any payments or to ship. Will put it back on the Market when back home in several weeks. Paladin601
wouldn't it easier and less costly to adapt a 28's frame?
jojeep
No,...not really.Alot more machining on the Rails that the upper(reciver) and lower( grip mount)slide on.They were made different so you could not slide a Semi Reciver on the 28/M1 Grip Mount and use a Modified Semi Bolt with fixed Firing Pin, making Full Auto.If someone with Welding knowledge, were to cut the Bolt with the Fixed Firing Pin Shaft and Weld on the Semi Bolt. The Shafts are at different Heights on the Bolts to prevent an easy switch. This changes the Receiver Heights,...giving you the reason for the Oblong Magazine Hole on Semi Autos. That's why Auto Ordnance when owned by Numrich years ago came up with a Butt Stock Adapter Kit.It was held on with Two Machine Screws, then Four Screw Kits, but they still would work loose. This Kit is Six Machine Screws and when in stalled by a Gunsmith will be very secure. They are no longer in Production since the Kahr took over and Offered the Gun with a Removable Stock. This Kit for Sale is perfect for people like me who owned an Older Pre- Kahr Gun.The Gun in the photo is mine.I'm selling a spare kit I purchased years ago for another project. TennesseeTimmy
Adapting a ‘28 frame: Easier - maybe. Cheaper - not so sure. I got a pretty nice one for 139$ a couple years ago but what few I’m seeing now are either a rust bucket piece of sh1t or 500$ (or both). I’m kinda surprised more of these adapters aren’t surfacing now. My 2 cents, or as they say, YMMV, JMHO, etc.

jojeep
About 20 years ago 1928 Lowers were still available brand new from Numrich/Auto Ordinance.I think I paid about $125.They had a whole bunch of Full Parts, but couldn't make any in to Full Guns. They said that the 1928 Full Auto was for Law Enforcement or Export...but in reality they probably didn't sell to many but had the parts.Sounds crazy but check Numrich Gun Parts Websites they might still carry. choppero
I didn't realize they were still popular. I made the 4 screw adapter years ago under the name chopper ordnance. I just sold the last one (been sitting in a drawer in my new shop for years). I could make more and eliminate the lower bevel to make it easier to machine. These look like the bottom of the 28 frame with the lock slot milled at the original angle, Adding two more holes is no problem. Any interest? choppero
I have decided to make them again. Including the stop that is milled in the top (you have to see the picture to know what I mean) . Any way go to lcgnm.com and look under products. A pre-production 3D picture from my CAD program will have to do for a few days.
