Third Generation Ny L Drum Available

Due to some financial hits I've taken in '05 I've had to sell off some Thompson-related items. The last real "goodie" I have is a Colt third generation New York L drum (with the comma after "N.Y.,") It's in great condition and should please any shooter or collector looking for one of these fine old drums. I've read enough tales of woe here about junk drums to believe one of you may need this!

 

Anyway, if you're interested, email me at collect@speedsite.com with a bid. High bid over $1,000 gets it, and I'll pay the freight. Deadline is 10:00 PM Central time this Friday, April 29th. and I'll notify the high bidder (if there is one) that evening. Please email any questions. I work weird hours but will answer them as soon as I can. I can't monitor the board that much, so an email is your best bet.

 

Now...I'm going to try to follow Frank's instructions and post some pix. If they don't appear, email me and I'll email the photos to you.

Since Frank Iannamico sold a couple of Bridgeport L Drums for 850/950? a few weeks ago, your third pattern Colt drum should command your bas price and a couple hundred more.

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Unfortunately, nobody put in a bid

(?!?!?), so I'm going to keep the offer open until 10:00 PM Central on Friday, May 6th - that's the day the Hindenburg went down in flames, but I'm not superstitious!.

If someone wants an original Colt era L drum with nickel rotor, one is not going to find one much cheaper.

Some dealers are offering these for as much as $2,500 for a 3rd generation. I am NOT saying they are worth that much BUT $1,000 is a GREAT deal for one of these.

Just thought I should let everyone know how this all came out. I accepted a high bid of $1,650.00 for the drum - I'm a pretty happy camper!

 

I want to thank those who placed bids as well as those who posted here. Your great comments and encouragement are really appreciated .

I think Tracie Hill's misidentified photos in his book confused, and seems to continue to confuse, what are Colt drums and what are Worcester. The drum Chopper 21 sold was a third pattern Colt.
