Movie THEM, 1954 they used a Thompson

Scared the hell outta me- My older brother snuck me into the movie, as Mom wouldn't let be see such things at my age, but I always did. I've seen it a couple times as an adult on the SiFi channel. Funny now.

Did not see this film until it was released for television on "Shock Theater" back in the day. I used to love staying up late at the end of the week watching all the Sci-Fi and monster movies they showed late at night. This film left a lasting impression on this young kid, along with films like "The Thing", "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "Forbidden Planet", "This Island Earth", and every film that had anything to do with the use of the "newly developed Atomic Power" that was creating mutant creatures or bringing alien creatures to invade us. I still prefer watching these old films as opposed to today's crap with nothing but CGI that just turns it into an overblown cartoon that just washes over me and leaves me cold and uncaring. Not seeing any Thompson's in today's Sci-Fi films are we?

James Whitmore handled the Tommy Gun pretty well here and he was not a stranger to handling one as several years earlier he had used one in the terrific war film "Battleground" for which he won an Oscar nomination. Unfortunately the Ant got him in the end in "Them", (should of had more ammo for that Thompson). Here are a poster and still Whitmore signed for me years ago from this film.

Was waiting for you on this Mike Hammer- Great films you listed, sitting in the State Theater , in Shenandoah, Iowa, eating Milk Duds watching these.

James Whitmore- Shawshank Redemption, one of my all time favorites. Right ?

Invasion of the Body Snatchers, War of the Worlds. One of my favorites, The Amazing Colossal Man ! On & On...

To make this legit on this side of the forum: Baby Face Nelson ( Rooney) , Young Dillinger, Machine Gun Kelly ( Bronsen) , Ma Baker.

Then Guns Don't Argue, The Bad Ones............................heading off target here.

Used to have all these gangster movie posters, one sheets, lobby cards in my collection. All framed and accepted by the wife, who is a designer.

Ok Then.

I love the old movie posters. They would be something I would collect, if I had more available wall room, and more funds. The ones I have are not exactly "old." I have a couple of original one-sheets for Apocalypse Now and Scarface, and then two inserts that are from when I used to collect Beatles stuff when I was younger. One is a 1970 "Let It Be" insert that I bought from Edwin Neal, who played the hitchhiker in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He is a major player in movie poster collecting.

I don't want to derail the subject, but I do really like movie posters. Thanks for posting.

Some old photos of the movie posters in my collection- The big red Dillinger one was about 7' tall, had three Acme photos that were mounted on the top area of the outlaws, old original 8X10 photos. This was part of a 6 one sheet movie press kit from Midland Films that did the old B&W documentary of Dillinger you may have seen .
