  1. The price will be set by what the market will allow. Let's watch and wait.
  2. As I said earlier, bureaucratic BS. The C&R status of that gun should never have been in doubt.
  3. This is a lively discussion but many of us can cite examples of REWATs transferred as C&Rs before and after amnesty, with the re-activation done before/after etc. This is simply bureaucratic BS.
  4. Sounds like a typical government SNAFU. New bureaucrat that doesn't know the procedure and a supervisor that isn't interested in getting it right. My M1 rewat was registered in the 68 amnesty and reactivated in 2005 and went through as a C:& R just like it should of and thousands of others had. I would keep on their case until they get it right because they are obviously wrong.
  5. As a worse case, maybe you can get a sympathetic curator to vouch for it. 2. Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest
  6. I agree with Tom. I've only put 20 rounds through my 28 Westie after getting it back from PK It's almost too pretty to shoot. Never thought I'd say that.
  7. The parked receiver with blue barrel sounds similar to the one that sold recently at RIA. Any connection?
  8. A buddy of mine is planning on attending a shoot with his M1A1 in January in Northern Wisconsin. Needless to say the weather may be reminiscent of the Aredennes about that time of year. He was wondering about the Tommy's performance or any lubirication suggestions. I don't recall a discussion about Thomopson in winter conditions. Any insight on this? How did they really fare in Belgium and elsewhere?
  9. Points? We don't have no points!, We don't need no stinkin points! Give me 100 negative points, I hadn't noticed this post before and I'm listed as an RKI member. Where does that setting come from Dave? Not that I'm not relatveily knowledgeable about one thing ro another. .
  10. Great pictures Chuck. I've read "The Stillwell Papers" excerpted from the General's diaries. How cool to think your Dad was in the midst of it all. I also recently read Eugene Sledge's With the Old Breed and he mentions carrying a Thompson on several occasions on Pelieu and Okinawa
  11. And could you believe that they just stumbled upon an 03 and Enfield sniper rifle in excellent, unaltered condition and got a deal on them and just happened to find a Sturmgewehr parts kit in grandpa's trunk. Go on, pull the other one.
  12. Hey Nick, Sent a payment. We've never met but I've met you Dad and know a little bit about what your going through. As always the innocent are the ones that suffer most. Hoping the best for Kim's kids and you.
  13. I met Mike briefly at the TCA S&S a couple years ago and was of course impressed with the display of his collection. I know nothing of his business practices and hope that the seisure of his collection remains strictly a point of the bankruptcy proceedings and that our friends at the ATF have no interest. It would seem that his collection is probably destined for an auction house which will undoubtedly distort the history and value of the pieces. Judging from the various examples I see on page 12 and 58 - 67 of AT2 which I believe are just a sampling, it is a world class Thompson collection. To see on the auction block brings mixed emotions. If only I had a few extra bucks right now...
  14. That was a great display Mike. Glad I got to talk to you before the masses were let in.
  15. This is the first I'd heard of Mr. Compton's passing. I had the honor of meeting him and getting his autograph at the Louisvillle show a year or two ago. Sorry to see another one gone. Time marches on.
  16. Hey Mike, My Wisconsin buddies and I will be there again this year, Thurs - Sat. They will have a table at the Militaria show in the far right corner by the hot dog stand. We got to have a beer this time, even if it's under the table.
  17. I suspect it will be posted here before too long. http://www.americanrifleman.org/Video.aspx?cid=23&vid=3681
  18. Great stuff Chuck, Thanks for posting them all. Did you ever count how many times Sarge was wounded? He must have had a drawer full Purple Hearts.
  19. Love this pic of Bogey from Sahara with his larger than life Cutts. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/wje2204/Bogie1.jpg
  20. Like many of you my Thompson fixation stems directly from Sgt. Chip Saunders. I believe Chuck told me that the Kraut Mausers were converted to 30.06 to simplify thngs or did I dream that?
  21. This is amazing, intriguing and scary. Just think where this technology will be in 2, 3, 5 years. Do you doubt that the Chinese are scanning everything we produce? Forget about reverse engineering, why bother. Oh I know, its just plastic, for now, but 10 years ago if I told you I could sell you a device that could pinpoint your location anywhere on the earth for less than $100 and its on sale at Costco you'd say yeah right. How long before they can reproduce a cheeseburger, taste and all, a la Star Trek?
  22. I suspect that video wouldn't conform to todays sensitivity requirements.
  23. Great job guys! And what a thrill to have Sandy and I immortalized in such esteemed company!
