  5. I bought a 28A1 AO parts kit a few weeks back, and while cleaning and wiping down the receiver, I noticed the up bent leg of the site was bent slightly to the left about 3 or so degrees. It did not look like the site leg got banged to the the left, it looked like it was made that way. I dug thru my tsmg parts and found another stamped rear site with the same bent look to the left, about 3 degrees. Do any of the Thompson Guru's here know the reason for this? Sorry, I can't provide any pics.
  6. I don't want a normal grip mount. They are a royal PITA when removing/installing barrels. I've got a Thompson grip mount that I can sacrifice to make a screw-on gripmount.
  7. Unless Doug just has a hardon for me, I would think others are having the same problem as me, and are in need of a screw on grip mount.
  8. The screw-on grip mount was designed to make barrel removal, and installation, a breeze. Use a strap to loosen the barrel and then just unscrew the barrel by hand. Swap barrels or use the original and screw it back on, A 5 minute or less operation. I've been thinking about building a screw on grip mount, an original can be used I believe, just modify it, possibly have it re heat treated. I would like to try and find the original item first though.
  9. I'm in the market for a Richardson Screw-on grip mount. These are for the R Ultimax receiver. I ordered one 3 years ago at same time I ordered a 2M2 ultimax rec from Doug, and paid for, but only received the Receiver. Called Doug, but he ran out of them, and didn't have any immediate plans to build more. So, every 3-4 months I'v been bugging Doug, but he's always out of them. Even when he announced starting production of more ultimax recs. So I give up on Doug, he's never gonna provide a screwon grip mount for me, or reimbursement of the $65.00 paid for the grip mount. Is there anyone out there with an extra screw-on grip mount? Please!! Sell it to me!!! I'll pay a premium for it. Mike
  10. Well, it's Monday morning, 11:30 am, the 6th of Aug, and this workshop manual showed up in the mail. WOW! What an impressive compilation of Thompson knowledge. My hat is off to Mr. Richardson. Now if he could remember to send me my screw on grip mount that I have been patiently waiting for, for 4 yrs!
  11. Hi all, I've been off all the gun boards for the last 5-6 months, and today tried to log on to thompsonsmg.com to get Doug Richardson's phone number. I needed to get ahold of him to check if he had any spare parts that he owes me for. He didn't send some parts that I bought and paid for back when he first shut down a couple of years ago. It was a bolt on grip mount for his new receivers. Anyway, it seems that his website is shut down. Anyone know how to get ahold of ole Doug? Please let me know.
  12. Does anyone here have some extra's of these items they want to sell? Or maybe you have a link to where these items can be bought? Thanks, Mike
  13. seller does not seem eager to show the drum. Tells me what I want to know!
  14. Ask Doug about if you can make some bolt on grip mounts. He owes me a Bolt on grip mount, but I seriously doubt I'll ever get it from him. Which makes my $900 2m2 receiver worthless.
  15. Deerslayer, I bought the 2m2 receiver for a reason, as with the bolton gripmount, you can change barrels easily, no special tools required. I plan on converting this to S/A soon. And Doug assured me he had everything I wanted on the shelf. Quick change barrels means changing calibers for me. I have thought about milling off a standard grip mount, but whoever does it(not me) would need some basic blueprint showing dimentions, especially for the screw holes. Doug has had plenty of chances to make more gripmounts, but he chose to make new lower receivers, experiment with folding stocks for the T. and other projects rather than taking care of his customers who ordered parts from him which he's not trying to build those paid for but unavailable parts.
  16. Does anybody here have a Richardson bolt-on grip mount they don't need? I bought one from Richardson almost a year ago, along with a 2m2 ultimate receiver and 1 or 2 other items, all of which he claimed to have in stock. Never got the grip mount, and Doug said he did'nt know when he would make more. Just talked to him again a week ago, and he said "just watch my blog for info on when I'll make more" which I believe translates to "When I feel like making more, if ever." Doug is an artist with making thompson parts, but his customer service is borderline criminal. So, anyone have a spare bolt on grip mount to sell?
  17. I just read today over at AK Files, that California passed a whole slew of anti gun bills, including outlawing ak's with bullrt buttons. I wouldn't travel within a hundred miles of that state now.
  18. Bob, I was in vietnam 68-69, Marines, stationed at a base camp up on the DMZ. There was a SF team base camp 5 or 6 kilometers from us, they came by frequently for supplies and such, 4 of the 13 team members had Swedish K's. From my understanding, those 4 swed k's were Legacy guns, as the US Govt could no longer buy them from Sweden. The guy with the K would leave it with his replacement when he rotated back to the States.
  19. I got mine in the mail today. It does look nicely made, but it's a loose fit in the receiver even with barrel tightened down.
  20. The same seller is also selling these on Gun Broker for $65.
  21. I was at Rota Naval Base in southern Spain from 72 to 75, Marine Barracks. We guarded the gates and ammo dump. Gate duty got 2 45 mags of 5 rds each, Ammo dump duty got 2 M14 mags of 5 rds each. That all changed in 73? when the muzzies and Israile's started shooting at each other. Then all mags were loaded full, and ammo dump guards got 2 full 20 rd mags and a bandoleer full of loaded mags.
