  1. Well, we lived in Connecticut, I saved up and bought a Daisy BB gun when I was eight years old, this was 1970 or so I never even saw a firearm until we moved to Louisiana in 1974. Learned to shoot at the Bonnet Carré spillway. My high school, lots of the other students had the shotgun rack and rifles in the rear window of their pickups. I remember a neighbor out in the middle of the street firing his shotgun into the air on New Years eve, a popular sport in the New Orleans area..
  2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1928A1-Thompson-Parts-Auto-Ordnance-1927-SMG/192294326135 Looks like maybe a $900-$1000 worth of parts ? I think the barrel (different auction) is the keeper of the parted out gun, if the winner of the trigger frame doesn't also win the barrel that would be be a drag. Also, some people might be more comfortable with an ebay purchase than from other online sites, acceptance of paypal etc and pay top dollar because of the competitiveness of bidding. Nothing like an ebay frenzy. If I'm looking for something, firearm part or non-firearm, I hit up ebay first, then move to Amazon to compare prices if applicable, then to other online sites if I can't find what I need from ebay or Amazon. Newbies might not be familiar with gunbroker or IMA etc. Just my opinion !
  3. This is being presented as original, I'd love to have it but I can't bring myself to pay that much for cloth. Anyone know if this is the real deal ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-US-Army-Military-Thompson-Carry-Case-Pouch-Cover-NOS-Airborne-Paratrooper-/231973381559
  4. Not my item, no connection ! A seller with big cahones posted a saw cut West Hurley receiver auction, I took a screenshot in case it gets the axe before tomorrow. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1927-a1-west-hurly-reciver/282631454860
  5. Awesome, that's beeyootiful. I did buy a real nice vintage violin case, faux alligator, orange velvet interior etc but turns out it's way too small. Looked a lot bigger online...
  6. To be honest, instead of a repro I would buy a vintage violin/viola case and make something original, I don't really like the hard lines of the FBI cases. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want an original but if it was going to be a repro I'd want something different.
  7. For the price of two of those, you could buy this full functioning M1 receiver (and most likely open up a world of legal hurt) YIKES !! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-WW2-US-Army-Thompson-M1A1-Relic-spare-part-Box-/192274221878
  8. Great photo, did they each carry an ammo box around with them ? That's a lot of weight !
  9. Cool beans, looks like I got one incorrect auction title with no pic in the search listing, said "1927" but curiosity made me click on the link anyways. http://www.gunbroker.com/item/672647278 Same seller was also selling a lot that included a WWII L drum, nice looking barrel and comp, some furniture and...... what looked like an original vertical foregrip, I couldn't bid on the lot because my state has a magazine capacity restriction (sob) and it sold for only $869 http://www.gunbroker.com/item/672644370
  10. Makes sense now, I didn't know what a correct bolt should look like, and this one threw me off because they ground and polished the cut tip, and it looks like a nicely machined part. Thanks ! Thanks ! Okiedokie, serial is : 69825. Thanks ! Thanks ! Ukraine, they chased out my ancestors years ago, I have a lot of Ukranian heritage Awesome, thanks ! Thats fine, I pride myself on my American foolishness and I'm really really good at it. As long as it's not an anti-Semitic slogan, I'm happy. My tribe didn't do well in that part of the world Thanks for the info ! I wonder if more will be hitting the market soon.
  11. Here's some better pics of the M1 parts kit purchased on GB, mentioned in my WTB barrel thread. Seems pretty darn clean to me but I haven't looked inside the trigger frame, although it seems to action smoothly. Anyone know why the Russian writing would be on the (Stevens?) grip bar ? Isn't this bolt an M1A1 bolt ? Some of the small parts aren't in my pics but I do have them. Sooo,.. Critique away ! Steve
  12. Hi, if I can't find something a bit nicer I'll definitely get back to you, thanks !
  13. I'm not really sure how well I did on price, I paid $1250. No kits anywhere else online, looks like IMA had them cheap but at the very end raised the price to 2,495 ? But the IMA kit did come with a functioning barrel... http://www.ima-usa.com/original-u-s-wwii-thompson-m1-smg-parts-set-with-barrel.html I will say the parts that weren't demilled are in super condition, almost pristine, with the exception of the magazine catch which has some of the bluing worn off the left edge.. I'll take some detailed pics and start a thread later this evening. I'll also link to the auction, I can't get to the completed auction for the url on this computer. edit : auction link http://www.gunbroker.com/item/668515141
  14. If my memory is correct I built mine with a 18" JP barrel and bolt. Being a bit of a newb I chose a not as common diameter barrel then had a heck of a time finding a stainless gas block and brake. The build was all FDE and stainless. I checked the headspace and all is well but I haven't even got to test fire it yet, haven't been shooting in a good while. I think I like the building more than the shooting. Yeah, I've been doing a bit of research over the past year or so. DPMS seems to be a little more common. The Cerakote job on this thing is sweet, I plan on having rail accessories, and other small parts done by the same guy. I plan on putting some pretty premium parts in it and making it a real precision rifle. Like a Proof barrel and LANTAC bolt, SLR adjustable titanium gas block to name a few. I know it doesn't compare to class 3, but it will probably be close or over $5,000 by the time I'm done. But that is the beauty of building it piece by piece. Andrew
  15. I wish, I don't get to travel much, too busy with work etc. Sounds like fun though !
  16. Thanks, I just sent a contact form to inquire, looks like new wrapped in grease ! I'm not sure if there will be a quick response so until I hear back from him I'm still looking. There is one on GB but it's way spendy so that would only be a last resort.
  17. That's awesome, I really like some of the patriotic themed stuff. I built a 308 last year, SS barrel, Aeroprecision upper and hand guard etc. Super nice gun, pretty heavy with the scope so I guess it would be more of a sniper rifle, I couldn't imagine carrying it all day. It was a leaning experience because of the DPMS vs other variants compatibility issue, I'm glad I read up before ordering parts.
  18. Hi folks, so I just purchased a M1 parts kit off GB to keep my 1928 kit company. Was going to buy another 1928 but then that opens up the "I need a vertical grip" can of worms and I just don't feel like dealing with that anymore so I saw this purty M1 kit and the rest is history . Kit is in excellent shape except the seller didn't find it worth mentioning that the barrel was demilled with a long saw cut down the entire length (did not show in photos)... Soooo.... I'm looking for an original M1/M1A1 barrel in nice condition, I'd rather not go the repro route unless I really have to. Does anyone have or know where I can get an original barrel M1 barrel that's not beat up ? Thanks, Steve p.s., sellers photo below
  19. Thanks everyone ! I have a real nice looking 1928 parts kit, I then sourced that nice Savage vertical grip that sold a while back, a cleanly demilled receiver (and a blank on on order from phila-ord) and two WWII L-drums, a Seymour and I'll have to look at the other again (United Specialties ?) It has that U stamp. I need to oil the wood furniture, Also need to remove and realign the compensator, and I'll have a bitchin' display over the mantel I'll get some pics up in the near future.
  20. Sorry about that Roscoe, I'll stay on topic. So it looks like International Antiques is willing to let this auction complete even if the buyer ends up being a member here. Here's a link to another grip he recently sold, fresh minty vintage grips with perfect finishes must be quite plentiful across the pond. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thompson-1928-1921-Vertical-grip-/252892721539
  21. here's the paypal info. Name look familiar Joseph T ? Are you saying you did not buy the grip four posts up from luckyline ? Are you still willing to dig yourself a deeper hole ? The internet isn't as big as you think it is. You should try a different job, you're not very good at this. Also, Ebay accounts can be linked to someone else's paypal. accounts, as well as multiple seller ID's can be linked to a single seller paypal account : https://community.ebay.com/t5/Payments/ebay-account-name-should-match-paypal-name/qaq-p/23782075 I've been buying and selling on Ebay for 18 years, I know how it works. And the only thing I'm blaming you of is deliberate deception, to both me and the community here, pretending you aren't International Antiques, and not truthfully answering my ebay message. Have you no shame or conscience ? I fell for a forgery, that's my only fault here. I'm blaming no one for my own foolishness but me. But at least I'm not a cheat.
  22. so Jose Toscano, you are admitting now you are international antiques, the seller in the auction ! You just bought that grip from Luckyline on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/54P-ORIGINAL-WWII-US-M1928-THOMPSON-SMG-FRONT-HAND-GRIP-/162531075627 and your feedback shows feedback from luckyline. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=international-antiques&ftab=FeedbackAsBuyer&searchInterval=30 How can you try to deceive everyone here and claim you are not international Antiques, the seller of the grip now being auctioned on ebay ? That's insane !
  23. He is in Italy. I'm will be also more than happy to take pics of my fakes grip mounting channel etc. to compare the identically placed flaws (fingerprint) to pics he posted here and at warrelics. You can easily see it's the same grip.
