1. Numrich sold several from finished stripped lowers to lowers in the white without markings.Old West Hurley stock.
2. Shhhh Thumpy! 'Investments' is how a lot of us justify the hobby to the Misses.Even if they dont like guns they love money and investment success.
3. Only if damaged and if replaced only with Original GI ones.Reproductions are inferrior and have been known to jam up guns and hinder performance.Much like tge blish lock some people think they arent necessary and omit them( west hurley did this at one point in production) but general consensus is the gun was designed with it and does do somthing and used.If missing it should be replaced with GI parts only!
4. Got Uzi As a newbie myself I respect everyones points and the more the better for comparison.I like to think myself a pretty intelligent guy and can figure it out.As a novice around modern cnc production and somone whos left mountains of chips on manual equipment I could totally see Colt Remington or whoever 100years ago over a year and a half of production based on different machines turning out the same part by a couple different on the same machine or different machines, tge way its indexed ect..as all handmade parts are going to have some difference eigther minute or substantial wouldnt discount its authenticity. However Extreme claims must be backed by evidence and whoever makimg the claim the responsibility of evidence falls on their lap.If I said I have a talking dog it would not be your responsibility to prove me wrong or right it would be My responsibility to prove it. On another note i personally believe the Colt market got hyper inflated based on big money individuals getting into the hobby.A replacement barrel will always be what it is,a replacement. Some are better than others.Even if a barrel is s colt its a replacement. The GI Richardson barrwls are the best, still a replacement. So whoever is going to use it as a replacementhas to be happy with it.If itfits and works and looks like a solid replacement great! Because having a beautiful gun with a blown barrel is a tragedy and if this barrel gets somone out of that situation great for them.I think at this point it would be nearly impossible to validate if its original or not
5. 10.5" is really the way a Thompson handles best and looks right. Peter Koler is right.Dan is the guy and worth the wait.Numrich and KHrshould have produced mag cathes tgat use standard magazines. If your running drums have him install a bolt hold open.
6. Lot of those 'l' sights are fake lyman reproductions and the lyman ladders they had were removed from the kits and sold at a premium.
7. Glad to hear your enjoying in.My father inherited my grandfathers( his fatger in law)ww2 Thompson us1928a1.If it wasnt for inheriting it none of us could afford one.Hell we are having a hard time affording spares.Really woukd like to get an original spare bsrrel but may have to just have the original pulled and use aftermarket barrels so it can be enjoyed.Cost of ammo and parts might turn it to a wall hanger which would be an absolute shame
8. Maybe tgey hit an extra '0' because 12,500 is the Max this gun should be
9. Its for an XM177 E2 rifle.Late vietnam or post vietnam era.
10. The us was ground out and a1 to ac.Probly made tge mill mark to make the grind mark look nicer then did the same on the other side to balance it off.It cries for a nitric acid bath and dulite finish.
11. Pretty sure West Hurley did away with them thinking they are unnecessary . Most people chose to put gis in because its the design and they seem to do somthing if not just help spread the load of the bolt
12. Its an Auto Ordnance Model of 1921.Colt was the first contractor and then Savage. Its not a Colt forgery. Its whats on the paperwork.Looks like a legitimate hens tooth.I think David said it right it was just the long way to the same conclusion
13. Yea if Savage was Asked by Auto Ordnance to produce a 1921 model thats not a forgery. All tge serial numbers seem to be before Auto ordnance had tgeir own production plant. Now if the Colt in name manufacturer markings were done then that could be a forgery.Ss ot sets its a non Colt thompson 1921
14. I am going to leave it listed, but I going to change the description and advise that it is only a wall hanger and should not be used in a gun as a collector might want it, but I totally agree with you Tom. Thank you for the tip. Thats why im looking at it as a curio piece of History. To have a specimen in the collection. When I asked it wasnt to actually use it as only GI is what ive ever heard.
15. Is this one of those West Hurley buffers? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/935288610
16. That doesnt look like a stock on the back. Looks like some sort of brace.
17. I noted the auction for these Thompson remnants (NO 1210 & NO 12154) has reached $1975 as of this morning. Can anyone explain to me why anyone would think these parts are worth anywhere near this (rising) price. I agree several of the demilled parts would make great display items at the Thompson Shows & Shoots, but other than that.... And at the current price? What am I missing? Your not missing anything.Lots of sellers getting ridiculous prices and lots of sellers not collecting the money. Maybe the guys trying to launder money putting things up tgen payibg ridiculous prices. Happens on ebay all the time. 100,000 chicken mcnuggets ect.Either the guys bidding have money and not knowledgeable to know the barrel looks bulged and welded and drilled out thinking they can salvage some original colt parts.Or somone wants to weld it back together to build an authentic Colt maybe even as a semi auto I seen some beautiful work on Weapons Guild.Me If I wanted to build a Colt I would start with one of Bobs receivers.I would see it being a cool conversation piece as is maybe spme big wig wants an expensive desk or bookshelf decoration.Maybe a cool lamp.
