  1. Thanks for the reply! Well, it appears he's not as caught up as I thought.
  2. I visited richardsons thompson website, and dougs postings seem to indicate that he has either caught up on production, or is close to catching up on production of his receivers. Anybody here know if this is correct? If he indeed has caught up, might be a good time to order one.
  3. Hard to believe that the Italian army overwhelmed troops equiped with Thompsons. They were barely able to handle Ethiopian troops armed with spears and daggers.
  4. TNT, You ought to look at www.weaponsguild.com. Thats a kit building site, and they are the people who first successfully modified a standard thompson smg kit into a legal s/a thompson. I think trying to modify that KAHR into a good shooting gun will be an exercise in futility. But, to answer your questions, try greenmountain rifle barrels. They make an exact copy of the TSMG 1928 barrel, and they are only about $125.
  5. Doug Richardson was advertizing for a while machinest plans for a suppressed TSMG. Not pushing his product, just saying.
  6. I was in Vietnam in 69-70, and carried a chinese made thompson for several months. I didn't know it was made in china, assumed it was a lend-lease gun from ww2, which the chinese gave to the peoples army of N. Vietnam. The only things I had a distinct impression of was all the chinese lettering on the gun, and the seemingly excellent quality of its construction. Years later I found out it was really made in china. Wish I had found a way to sneak it home.
  7. Your lower receiver pistol grip is missing. Heck, you ought to put it on GB. The last 2 TSMG kits I saw there, sold for $2,000+ eack kit.
  8. Older style Romanian drums for the AK47 used to be reloaded at the mouth of the drum. Now they open at the back like the T drum.
  9. This is a european de-activated tommy. Over there, they don't have to cut the upper receiver, but they do demill the bolt, barrel, and several other parts. I'v seen european dealers trying to sell them on GB, looks like they succeeded. I guess they didn't tell the excited buyer they also cut the receiver if it sells to the USA.
  10. ReconBob, I want to work for you. I would do it for no pay too. Just a receiver or 2, every now and then.
  11. There are plenty of thompson kits on GunBroker and AuctionArms, often for far less than $1000. If they don't show clear and sharp pics pass em by. Same if they have a reserve price which they don't reveal. WWW.weaponsguild.com has a lot of info on building thompson kits into legal semi auto's. My personal opinion is a PhillyOrd receiver is a better choice to work with than rewelding a cutup tsmg receiver. Those cutup receivers warp to much when welding on them. Good luck!
  12. does the 1928a1 and the m1/m1a1 use the same pivot plate? looking to buy a spare pivotplate for the 28a1, but can only find 1 on gunbroker for an m1/m1a1
  13. Hi Sgt.! The info you are looking for is located at www.weaponsguild.com They have several variations of builds on that site using parts kit TSMG's. they rebuild demilled receivers to spec and build them legal, and they show you how to modify your lower receiver to semiauto only. Naturally the feds make it hard to do a legal build. Mike
  14. is Rydens internet site still up? Is his wife carrying on the family business? Anybody know the site address?
