  1. Hello here is the link in pictures to set up Sling on Garand show in M1D . You can go by this for the Thompson also. its set up the same way as in American Thunder II the Thompson Book http://www.rcivistalite.com/sling.htm http://www.rcivistalite.com/IMG_3998.jpg
  2. hello we will be posting a link how to do the installation possibly over the weekend
  3. Thank you very much for the info. sir. yes the original Cam keeper were flat and had an Anchor on them. i wanted to keep the sling somewhat made with original parts etc. most to all of the OD # 3 slings have the flat first generation cam keeper. the od 7 version had a mix of the early cam lock and the later (with hump) I really wanted to use an original part on the sling and choose the cam keeper. very costly item to make. My main thing was to make it here in the United sates using American companies and american materials. there are a lot of repro guys and these are just ordered like food from a chineese menu. I really dont plan on making alot of them. its a special item on a limited production run. there are limited quantities on these. You gentleman on this group are the experts and I welcome your thoughts. I was trusted with a project from a member that passed away Gordon H who made the Viola cases. he trusted us with all the manufacturing specs and details and will be tooling up for these soon. i will keep you posted on sir. thank you best Romano
  4. The AFC M1923 Sling reproduction is darker in the pictures and is lighter in real life and a lighter shade of OD7. we wanted to come out with this one and then we would possibly make the other OD3 colored ones later on. From the begining they were all brass buckles. the steel buckles are the rarest to come by. I have 3 original SmCo 1945 OD7 with square ends and round ends that are brass and the sling has the MRT stamp. the stitching suffered compared to the OD3 units which are nicely done. Having the material made to this thickness is very expensive as well as making it to the original weave and last having an american company make it. Most of the web material that is out there is .069-.079 thick which is too thin
  5. The SM Co which Stands for Southeastern metals Company made slings, canteen, cup, utensils and many more items for the WWII effort
  6. Hello this is a message for TD my grandfather is center on floor with gloves on. My uncle Ken Slattery Jr (retired NASA) and my mother pointed the photo out when paging through Bills book. They said that they saw similar pictures of Ken Sr. in a family scrap book when they cleaning out my grandfathers house in the 90s when shortly after he passed away in 1996. The photos of the scrap book are with my other uncle (Mike) who i have asked to locate for me. best Romano
  7. Hello guys, i had the honor to deal with Gordon and get one of his cases for my West hurley. he is right when he said you will never able to find one like it or convert an existing viloa case. Im in the music manufacturing business and knew right off who made these for Gordon and he couldnt believe that i knew who made these. it is true this is a custom made unit to his specs. I was one the last person he sold one of the last units to. The ;last one went to himself and said that no more could every be made unless someone had the love for the tommy gun as well as the place to get them done again. he supplied me with all the info for the unit and had plans to make a nicer heavier wood version but then he passed. these were made in the limited amount required by the manufacturer around 150-200. I would entertain making these but quite frankly Gordon had them made out of love for the Tommy gun. I have the same love but even know we have all the info to remake these I think its best to keep things rare and original
  8. Its been a while since I have been on the group forum but wanted to post something since its been awhile. I happened to get together with Bill Menosky today and had him down to RCI Starlite International Bridgeport, CT. RCI Starlite is where all of the acrylic drums for the music industry are made for some of the biggest drummers in the world such as Garth Brooks Tommy Lee and Chad Smith. After showing Bill Around the shop and having him see the Original Brown Sharpe Universal Mill that came out of Springfield Armory i n 1925 and then transfered to Rock Island Arsenal in the 1940s. Thats anothere story and will get pictures soon. In addition Bill and I had a great time crusin around Bridgeport looking at all of the manufacturing businesses that have come and gone. Remington and bridgeport Brass and also City Lumber. City lumber made the prefab houses for france starting in 1946) one thing I didnt get a chance to bring to our lunch date today was a very very rare Auto Ordnance tool division ad for their Radial Dresser tool. For those of you who are not machinists the easiest way I can describe how this tool is used for making some parts for the Thompson Sub machine gun is as follows. This tool is used to make either a convex or a concave shape on the grinding wheels or other very hard steels. Most of the time a diamond insert would be used on the AO Tool. After the grinding wheel or tool steel took its shape it would be used for many form tool applications. Form tools were used before the tape, punch card or CNC age. Although these tools are still used under names like Brown Sharpe and other famous names with the introduction to CNC machines the form tools and profiling machines that made the specialized parts were dinosaurs basically overnight

  11. Hello Guys I thought some of you would like to see what is left of thge original Auto Ordnance Factory on Railroad avenue in Bridgeport, CT. Some of you may know that my Grandfather used to Guard this factory back during WWII. The building is the triangular shaped building that is only a small part of the original 4 or 5 buildings put together that occuiped the block of railroad ave, cherry street , bostwick ave and Hancock ave. This is the building as seen in some of the famous pictures in the past. The other building were destroyed by fire in the late 90s. As you can see to the right of the building is I-95 This was built during the mid 50s and a building was destroyed. At this time the building is beaing rented to a company called Devar. My brother inlaw does heating and air onditioning and talked to one of the guys there is 1993 where he showed where they had like a shooting hole in the basement to test the machine guns. The pictures were taken today 12-14-2008. the car is the photograph is an original New York City Checker cab with all original paint and stripes for you car buffs ot there. best Regards Romano Cotone Enjoy http://www.rcistarlite.com/DSC09361.JPG http://www.rcistarlite.com/DSC09362.JPG http://www.rcistarlite.com/DSC09367.JPG Some of the images were alittle blurry. I was standing right on the railroad tracks where I was taking the pictures. At this location was the off ramp for the train that would come off and deliver raw steel and other raw materials right up to the AOC palnt during the war.
