  3. All this chatter lately about importing is giving me a headache. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif you can, you can't, you can, you can't, yet they are, or seem to be. UGH!! If it's illegal then how the heck is it happening and why am I not hearing about any confiscation going on a very large scale. Someome help me here. Please. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif
  4. Your right Hawkeye Joe, tommies are very addictive. The other day I was at the ol Dillon press cranking out .45's and finally couldn't help myself. I grabbed a mag, filled it to max then went outside and emptied it. Max time from reload press to empties on the ground was about 5 minutes. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
  5. QUOTE (1921A @ Oct 12 2004, 12:35 PM) Bush or Kerry? Just got back from KCR shoot - the local republican party had a table there handing out Bush/Chenney signs and literature. The dems had one there too - but I coudn't get down range to get to it! I guess I'll have to vote republican.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Now that was really funny!
  6. I've been thinking about going. Went in 2002 and had a real good time except the show was so big I actually got sore feet walking around. My fault for trying to see the place in one day. It was really cool seeing pretty much a whose who in the firearm industry there. If any of you haven't been before make sure you eat first because the food vendor(s) will gang rape your wallet leaving less $$ for gun related goodies. Had a pretty good chuckle to myself when I was at the USPS mailing my items home because TSA would have kittens if I tried to get through security. The enert pineapple grenade comes to mind... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif
  7. great news! An MP40 on the way as well! It's always a good idea to "pending" on something at all times! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  8. C dums, hot off the press. That will be SUUUWWWEEEEEEEEEEEETTT!!!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
  9. QUOTE (21 smoker @ Sep 22 2004, 07:48 AM)What am I mising here,..PK never posted a price...so how have we arrived at $400.-$500 for a C drum?...inquiring minds want to know... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif Not only that but I didn't see him say anything about making any at all. It was only a poll regarding springs. Or, do I not know the secret handshake on this one?
  10. I'm intersted in getting in on a group buy. How many will depend on the cost. Edited to ad........ I'd also suggest PK ad some margin to compesate for his time and make a few bucks above that. Doubtful anyone here would mind throwing a few extra bones PK's way.
  11. Is that chow http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif what was refered to as SOS?
  12. Thanks Chris! That's just what I was after. Bookmarked this time. What's really cool is my Tommy was built the year I graduated high school. Nice graduation gift to myself. Even if it was a whole bunch of years late. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
  13. Posted before IIRC but I can't seem to locate the web site that shows WH Tommy serial numbers and the corresponding date of manufature. Anyone have the site bookmarked? Thanks! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  14. QUOTE (snipershot1944 @ Jul 7 2004, 04:35 PM) thanks for the reply. one last question. Should the seller's address on the form four match that of his paperwork from the ATF. Asked another way, does he need to let the ATF know of his current address before we send in the form 4? I don't want any problems for him. He moved recently. sniper The address on his form 4 does not have to match his new address which will be the address listed for the transferor on your F4. As far as I know, there is no special form for address change notification. Since he has not previously informed ATF he moved, I would suggest the sellor write a letter informing them of the move and you can include it with all your paperwork. That should be sufficient to avoid any problems. That said, I've never had to deal with your exact situation. My opinion is based on how I would handle it as a (former) FFL/SOT. If you have some doubt or further concern you could always call NFA branch and ask them, 202-927-8330. Congrats on your first tax stamp inbound. It only gets worse from here. That is, if you consider NEEDING another stamp eventually worse. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Mark
  15. snipershot1944, F4's are mailed back to the transferor after approval. You DO need to send in the citizen certification form (5330.20). They are available at danbrews site (www.titleii.com) or IIRC they can be found at ATF's website. Since the seller's address is where the approved forms get mailed, his or her current address needs to be listed on the form 4 you submit. HTH
  16. Congrats Joe! i know the feeling!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  17. I understand on the website. When I get ready to ad to your busy workload http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I'll give you a call and we can discuss the project further. Are you located anywhere close to Denver? I fly into that area sometimes, maybe I can drop my SBR project off in person if that's an option. Always have liked taking road trip's. Mark
  18. Happy birthday and thanks for all your work keeping up this board! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif As a thompson newbie this place has been an invaluable resource. A VERY real asset to the community. Have a great Day! Mark S.
  19. Curious if PK has a website showing various services/mods he does to the tommy's. I see folks post pics and sometimes explain some details but is there an all inclusive list of what's available online? I have a WH M1 semi awaiting SBR approval. When I get that it's going to get shipped off but I'm looking for other ideas in the meantime. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
  20. Seems like I recall reading this here (or maybe even in American Thunder) but can't remember. When I cock my WH 28 it's able to be locked back in two positions. One about 3/4 or so the way back and also when the bolt is all the way back. Anyone know why this is?
  21. Received Franks 'USA Submachinegun' book from LMO yesterday. Looks great! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Have only had a chance to peruse briefly but I think it will be a nice addition to the library and make a really nice reference book for years to come. It has a spot reserved right next to another great book, 'American Thunder'.
  22. O.K., I uploaded a few pics of the Thompson brothers http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif The Westy 28: http://www.cascadeaccess.com/~marks/tommy_pics/wh28_rt_side.jpg WH28_rt_side WH28_rt_rcvr WH28_lt_rcvr The Westy M1 semi: http://www.cascadeaccess.com/~marks/tommy_pics/m1_lt_side.jpg WH_M1_rt_side WH_M1_rt_rcvr WH_M1_lt_rcvr
  23. Well, it finally happened. F4 cleared on a WH 1928 I purchased from a long time family friend. It's not in mint condition but pretty nice and runs great. Came with a dozen stick mags and a Seymor L drum. The drum had a dent in the side so while I was waiting for the F4 to clear it went to Merle getting all fixed up and re-parked. I wish someone would have showed me the 'secret handshake' though. On my first trip out I'm all happy and ready to blast away. Standing on a gravel logging road I go to slide the drum in and it goes clean out the other side of the gun promptly landing on the ground! Fully loaded of course! I about crapped! Fortunately it didn't get dented (again) but has a couple new battle scars on Merle's fresh park job. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif The rest of the day was pretty uneventful with a bunch of brass ending up on the ground and a dirt bank getting rototilled pretty good. And to say the least, I'm a bit more careful installing the drum on the gun! From the same friend I bought a WH M1 semi and I'm currently waiting on an F1 to clear so I can make it into a SBR. It's going to get a round trip ticket to PK's shop (he doesn't know it yet) to get the barrel cut and a few other things once the F1 is in hand. The gun is pretty much mint and I'm pretty sure it's only been fired a few times. Looking forward to having it look more like a tommy should with a shorter barrel. All in all I'm pretty stoked. I'ts been fun learning about Thompsons and hanging out on this board. Franks Thompson book was a good read as well.
  24. Tom just posted that it's fixed. Must have just been a glitch.
  25. QUOTE (Sgt @ May 14 2004, 07:02 PM) What's the condition of the mags now. Last I heard they were pretty good. I was thinking of getting in an order. Haven't opened either of the sealed 5 packs. Figured I probaby wouldn't any time soon either as they were purchased as back ups for years down the road. The tommy deal I've had going came with a dozen mags and a drum so I figured I'm O.K. on shooter mags for now. I know some on this board have posted they are in NIW condition.
