SAW23015
On page 287 of my copy of American Thunder (Third Edition) by Frank Iannamico it states that Thompson Barrels were manufactured by: Savage Arms (S) Utica, New York.Remington Arms ® Ilion, New York.Auto-Ordance (AOC) Bridgeport, Connecticut.Stevens Arms Company (5) Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. However, I have never seen or heard of anyone having an Auto-Ordance (AOC) or a Remington ® marked barrel. Does anyone have either one of these or do they really exist. Atllaw
Last year I purchased a model of 1928 Savage In the 31k range with a barrel that was marked with what looked to be an R. Having trouble posting pics, but there was a pic in the original thread. Think the conclusion was that it was a double stamped P or something along those lines, but no one replying to the original thread one had seen an R mark. Now having the chance to see it in person, it does like a Remington R, but really dont know. Edited January 15, 2019 by Atllaw

SAW23015
Ahh, figured it outThanks this is the first Remington barrel I have ever seen. Having seen lots of Stevens and Savage barrels in person and in various publications but no Remington barrels I would think they are rarer. Great picture thanks....... av8tr
This barrel is on an AOC Bridgeport M1. And, dalbert posted a picture of another AOC Bridgeport M1 in a recent thread with the same marking.

Bridgeport28A1
Ahh, figured it out Here is a serif R on a 1928 hammer. I have two Remington 1928 hammers. The list of WW2 manufacturers I have looked at do not include Remington as a hammer manufacturer. There are some similarities to the barrel stamp but a clear photograph of the barrel letter stamp is needed. The proof P stamp are typically not stamped at 9 o'clock on the barrel. If it is a double strike why is there a "serif" line on the bottom of the R leg on one stamping but not the second strike or bounce?

Atllaw
My Thompson is still in jail (and almost a month has just been added to its sentence). However, I will get a clearer picture the next time I am at the FFL. Always amazed at the knowledge on this board.

Banjo
Wow, good photo! I was ready to argue that it was a P with a punch or a circle obscuring it looking at the first post. But looking at these photos it sure looks like an R.
