Dadswwii
Have a 1943 M1. Are there any parts you’d recommend having spares for? Not planning on high use of the gun...just periodic fun shooting. So ware will not be heavy. Are there any parts that are difficult to source? thanks! ppgcowboy
At a minimum get another bolt in case the bolt face gets damaged plus a few recoil springs. M1 bolts are difficult to find. Edited January 26, 2021 by ppgcowboy
JimFromFL
Since it isn't going to be shot much, I would print out one of those diagrams showing all the parts and simply buy one of each excluding the receiver and lower. Or be like some of us here and buy a dozen of each part which will end up lasting you 10 lifetimes. Edited January 26, 2021 by JimFromFL
StrangeRanger
Extractor, ejector, firing pin, buffer, recoil springs. A spare bolt if you can find one, otherwise pick up an M1A1 bolt - just in case
Rimcrew
I'll go against the tide and say just shoot it. These things are very robust and if something does eventually break, there are enough parts around that you'll find what you need. It will be a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of spares just in case something gives out.... Edited January 26, 2021 by Rimcrew

ppgcowboy
So your out shooting and you right off the bat mangle your recoil spring and the day is done. You say to your date, who considered you in the first place because of your Thompson, sorry honey, try out this red rider bb gun instead. There goes her day and your evening because she decided to pay an evening visit to Julio. Just sayin.

john
Extractor, ejector and bolt. And Don't forget the barrel.Try to find a nice original to rathole away. Green Mountain makes great repro barrels but they don't make the originals anymore.Wood is cheap, too.
