madmax1299
I am pretty sure they were Nural/ Bakelite at this point but mine is missing one and im trying to get a historically accurate one that would have been on it. I would prefer an aluminum or steel unnumbered bar, but I think they were all numbered for the most part/ is not accurate for a bnz 42. If anyone has one they are willing to part with or can correct me on my timeline of type of bar I would appreciate it!
Rekraps
My bnz 41 resting bar is number matched to the gun. Not sure what it is made of though, it kinda looks like a dark gray aluminum.

Maxim
My bnz 42 MP40 has the unnumbered bakelite bar with the part number (?) and maker symbol raised on the bottom: 2205-3 and a symbol that I cannot make out.My understanding is that MP38 and early MP40 had aluminum resting bars.
