... Just put my order in. Better get while the gettin's good.

On a side note...

I also received the four "like new" 30 rnd mags I ordered from Tapco at $9.00 ea. They are mil-spec mags also manufactured by Crosby, and will require the usual work on the mag catch hole. They arrived, as advertised, in like-new condition, very light grease/cosmoline and showing only slight "shelf wear". Compared to the price of the surplus 32 rnd mags I've been buying for my uzi, I'm very happy!

Sorry for the newbie question, but what work is required on the mag catch hole?

munks069, thanks for the heads up on the drum. I just placed my order. Item number is 981020 if anyone needs it.

Hey RoverDave!

The mag catch hole needs to be opened up about .10 of an inch at the top. The mil-spec mag catch sits a little lower than it does on the newer West Hurley's and Kahrs...

Here's a good link...

If you modify your mag catch you won't have to mutilate every mag you buy. Your mags lose value when you modify them.

DQ, thanks for the link. Now I'm the one with learning to do and this looks like great information.

Just got through ordering 2 of the Crosby repop drums from Numrich. $410- and some change. Lady said she had sold over a dozen so far today. If I wasn't so poor (retired)

I would of ordered even more. Bob http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Don't dally. Remember the "Keep Shooting" saga. I wonder if they are aware of the Numrich "breakthrough".

bug, I had E-mailed "keepshooting.com" a few days or so ago about the drums, but they never answered me back. Bob http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

I ordered mine.....now I have to buy something that accepts drums.  http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Dave

I understand they will fit a mint 1921 Colt TSMG just perfectly. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

A repro drum on a original Colt!? That's one of those trick questions for the new guy...right? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

After paying the price they want for a Colt gun, a repro is all you can afford prolly. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif

I bellied up to the bar and ordered 2 of these drums, I asked the lady if she was getting low on these and she said that they looked to have a "good amount" left. I wonder if there was only 300 available or if there were actually more. Now to just save up the money and get one of the 1928 parts kits built up.

I just received my 3 Crosby drums today. They were in individual boxes, oiled and wrapped in plastic, plus the outer package. All arrived in fine shape. If they function as good as they look, you can't beat the price of $199.

If your 3 drums do not function I believe you will be the first. Just to be sure though, run all 3. In you did get a "bad one" it can be returned while they still have stock. These things are gems but they vanished last time and it could happen again.

sportster - excellent advice from bug.

Question: Are the drums marked with the word "Thompson" in any location? Are they identical to the drums sold by KeepShooting.com a while back (if you have seen one or the pictures)?

blueline541,

Thanks for the update on the markings. I have heard from several members that the drums appear to marked exactly like the ones Brian sold at KeepShooting.com. This may have been a second production run of drums. I suggest you return the one drum if it is not running properly for an exchange. Hopefully, this is the exception and not the rule. I seem to recall Brian had a few drums in his batch that had problems - which he promptly took care of.

Has anyone heard from Brian lately?

Check out the Numrich web page. I give them credit. Daring or what?
http://www.e-gunparts.com/

Well, why not? Numrich has more credibility than Kahr for the modern semi-auto version of the name "Thompson", after all... (And no; I'm not trying to claim them as "original" Thompsons, only to say that Kahr's design was FROM Numrich, so if Kahr wants to claim their guns as "Thompsons", then how could they claim that anything sold by the company THEY got the design from is anything else? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
