Lawdog
I have a real stupid question here. I just happended to be crusing the web and came across a M1 with a finned barrel and comp. My question is - were finned barrel used on M1 or M1A1's early on? Thanks
LIONHART
No... Nor have I even seen one in any photo dating back to when the M1 was introduced. Some folks today will put them on however.
Ron Mills
Arsenal rebuilds mixed things up, like a finned barrel on an M1. Some rather unconventional combinations came out as a result!
philasteen
Lawdog - can you link to the photo? I'd like to see it.
full auto 45
I have seen a couple of M1's that had finned barrels. Both were "parts" guns, parts just thrown together. It will work just as well as any Thompson. Is it a gun for sale? If so, how much for that?

brian
how is it de-milled, if it can be cocked and dry fired? does'nt seem like it would too hard to *re*mill it.
Bill in VA
It wouldn't be at all hard to rewat it. (Notice the receiver, intact.) Tthe problem is first, that it's in Great Britain. Great Britian has different dewatting ("deactivating" as they call it) standards that here in the US. Moreover, with it being in Great Britain, there isn't any viable way to bring it into the US. pmlogg
The M1 with finned barrel and cutts is the one I mentioned in my reply to "1928A1 Is it OK?" on 17 January. In it I described the methods of deactivation, old and new, in the UK.
Merry Ploughboy
Don't know if they still have it but used to be the rental Thompson at "The Gunstore" in Las Vegas was an M1 with finned barrel and compensator. No doubt rebarreled.
