I have a Colt M16 A1. I understand Colt released limed numbers to dealers over a period of years. I think there is a lot of M16 history out there that would fit very well on this Forum. I think you should do it.

I have a Sten MKII. My nephew bought it back from Korea about 1954. He registered it during the 1968 amnesty. He sold it to me about 1984. I have put thousands of rounds thru it with no problems. A few years ago, I bought a parts kit. I shot the gun yesterday and I noticed my recoil spring had gotten compressed, so I decided to put in a new recoil spring. The old spring seems to be fastened into the housing. It looks like there are some tabs in the housing holding it in. There is nothing visible from the out side of the housing. I fooled around with it, but was unable to get the spring out. I have an extra housing out of the parts kit that has no sign of this. So I put it and the new spring in the gun. But I would like to get the old spring out, if possible. If any one has any knowledge of this and how to get the spring out, I would be very grateful.

I bought one. It fits and feeds fine in my ERMCO 1918A2. But it is a little long shooting prone. I have about 200 rounds thru it with no problems.

Genuine 1918 BAR ammobelt?
Waldo replied to Beginner's topic in Browning Message Board (Full Auto Only)
I got my BAR in the mid 1980s. There was a surplus store near me that had a box full of them. I think he wanted about $5.00 for them. There was no demand for them. I could have probably got them for less. But I am left handed and they are all right handed. So I did not buy one. -
Western .45 ACP 185gr FMC SWC ammo
Waldo replied to Chopper28's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I don't know about that particular ammo. But I have shot thousands of rounds of assorted cast and jacketed 185 grain bullets thru my 1928. The first time I shot them, I was with a friend that had just got an M! Thompson. I had my 1928 along. He was a big bullseye shooter and bought along some 185 grain SWCs. His gun would not feed them. I tried some in my gun and it ran just fine. We were shooting at about 15 yards. You could watch the SWCs cutting nice .45 caliber holes in the target. I had never shot anything but 230 grain bullets in my 1928 before, both cast and jacketed. Since then, I have tried 185 grain and 200 grain with no problems. So I think you should try it. -
Anyone using BE-86 for reloads in the Thompson?
Waldo replied to DINK's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I have used Bullseye or Unique for .45 ACP for many years. I shoot the same load in pistol, revolvers and submachine guns. I couple of years ago, my regular dealer did not have either powder. But he had BE-86. I bought a few pounds. I have tried it in all of my .45 ACP guns. No issues, but I did not see much difference. I don't have a chronograph or a machine rest. But it seemed fine in the Thompson. When those loads are gone, I would have no trouble buying it again. -

Northern VA / DC area TSMG owners ?
Waldo replied to Lawman9328's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I have not been there for awhile. I used to go on a weekday and was frequently the only person there. I think it was much less restricive than a lot of indoor ranges. -
I am thinking I may need a couple of extractors for my WWII era 1928. I have been looking around and see several on the internet. Has any one bought one lately or have any thoughts on where to get one? Thanks for any advice.

Northern VA / DC area TSMG owners ?
Waldo replied to Lawman9328's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
If you are in Northern Virginia, there are a couple indoor ranges in Ashburn that allow you to shoot full auto, Silver Eagle Group and XCAL. XCAL also has a variety of automatic weapons that you can rent and shoot there. The Elite Shooting Sports (ESS) indoor range near Manassas allows as follows: Full auto may be used during scheduled or arranged times with ESS staff supervision. Please check with ESS Range Staff for proper procedures to use full auto. Waldo, I concur with what Katana said. I've been calling and emailing the various ranges in the area and have been kind of surprised at the differences in what the various ranges do. Elite (ESS) has a whole "qualification" process you have to go through where you start at the 5 yard line and shoot bursts and then move back in increments. The Range Officer has to see that you can control the weapon at all stages. Other places just let you walk in and shoot full auto. The rest of the indoor ranges fall somewhere in between with things like limited hours or only on certain ranges / lanes, etc. Gene (aka "Lawman9328") Are either of you familiar with a place called "The Cove Campground" in Gore, VA.? I am not sure if it would be allowed to post a link, but it is easy to find their website. It is an outdoor range. They used to allow full auto fire, I do not know if they still do.
