  1. I have one christie mag, as many recommended them years ago, my mag is not as reliable as I had hoped for but its not for sale
  2. someone just picked up one on gunboards cheaper than quoted, but it needed a new stock, ( $150) and did come with a few original mags. I never go by Gun Broker pricing neither should you! but the price range above is consistent when I see them for sale
  3. I commented on this rifle over at Gunboards welcome to the site
  4. why?? original stocks are hard to get and expensive, get a repro stock and cut it up to be tacticool or get a ar-15
  5. so if some else is assembling the parts its not a build. making a receiver out of tubing is building. assembling existing parts and a ffl semi receiver is just that assembling parts are all over the net start with gunbroker, strumgewher, e-bay, sub guns
  6. as owner of both a PE-57 semi and sig 551a1 glad to see this addition to the site jack

  10. continually check flea bay and gunbroker. if that interested checking once in a blue moon does not count both sites offer a newly listed or 48 new post option

  14. heck kits and parts have been going up and price, original mags are around but not like before the average price most us are paying is $ 300 lots of greedy folks are asking $ 400 and more they can keep their mags, within the last two weeks 3 complete parts kits sold for over 5k
  15. welcome to the reising club keep the case w/ the gun, just dont use it. if you decide to sell the case sell it here to a member
  16. pecards is good just dont smear it on rub small amounts in gently don't over due it I have heard good things about connally's or was that the bar Connallys anyway just go sparingly I would also wrap it up in acid free paper, then place in a heavy zip lock ( not bare leather in ziplock) and get a repo sling for the range
  17. mag housing are still common i would get a exra one and follow the advise and use modern loc tite only a small drop oh yes sloppy mag fit is common jack
  18. I have one Christie mag I prefer original 20 rounders the Christie mag do nt function better than the original but better then the sarco junk I bought by mistake I used the spring set good results
  19. do a google search there are two companies in Europe that have originals I just don't have their links handy if I find them I will edit this post and add them Jack
  20. I had to order a copy of this book from Europe its still on the way, 92 euro I also bought myself a copy from war books last November for $179.00, I got a shipping tracking number and was told it shipped, arrival would be in two weeks well I waited the book never arrived ??? come mid December so I contacted Warbooks and amazon. I got a reply from War books that a employee stole my book and that they had no more copies, so when I checked amazon to get another copy they started at 1K, the guy at warbooks is a scumbag. he kept the book when he found out it went for 1K why send it to me for $179 Jack
  21. all good advice I would disassemble and doubly clean and inspect all the parts and as suggested get the two piece end cap, get inside the chanber with a 12 or 20 gauge brass brush and clean inside up to the barrel face and wipe clean. mags I once bought 15 original ww2 mags only 7-8 functioned in my gun 6 flawlessly the other two are range mags, get original mags forget the repro junk they never worked in my gun EVER, Christy mags worked but 30rd hangs to low for my liking.
  22. I use fmj 230 gr in my M-60 never a problem except if I use unique which leave un-burnt powder grains in the chamber, I stick with bullseye never a problem use the same load recommended for 1911 45 acp
