  1. The 17 Colt Thompsons that I owned were divided up and sold in the divorce. This is the last one that I had kept for myself. Now, I need to sell it, also. If interested, please call for photos and to discuss. Thanks, Mark Layton (801) 361-7300
  2. Ron. I bought that correctly-wooded '28 Navy with the horizontal foregrip from Hal Spiro. Mark
  3. Yes, Gordon is accurate that 1252 has a thin-finned Savage barrel. I have a Colt barrel for it, but I have been in no hurry to swap it out.
  4. Colt 21A 957 Colt 21AC 1252 1928 Commercial Savage S-17566 1928A1 Savage S-332214 M1 Savage 43321 M1A1 Savage 671938 W.H. 1928 2894A (not even close)
  5. This is Compton we're talking about. I doubt that any of those guns were bought at retail by the people turning them in for the $100. With the exception of the home-made pistol, all of those guns were likely stolen at some time. It's probable that the Thompson was a registered NFA item that was stolen. What the police should be doing is jailing all the thiefs who stole those guns, and then returning the guns to their rightful owners. That is, if the serial numbers haven't been obliterated. What a racket; steal a gun and fence it to the cops. "I got myself a plasma TV and I bought it with my own money." ('Course, I stole some guns to get the money.) It's sad, but everything in Compton is a candidate for theft.
  6. I've dealy with Craig Jordan. His work is first-rate. He is an expert craftsman and refinisher. He is a perfectionist and has worked on a lot of Colt Thompsons.
  7. For being about 85 years old and probably having a whole lot of history to it, I think it looks great. If I had the $$ right now, I'd buy it. I think it's a good looking Colt Thompson. I wish I owned it. Mark
  8. Hi Murray. I concur with what GIJIVE says in his comments on the rear grip. To his comments, I add that a most telling sign that the pistol grip (rear) is not Colt, is that if you follow the straight edge of the metal (of the trigger frame) under the trigger back to where it meets the wood of the rear pistol grip, that line should continue as a facet of the wood before blending downward. Only Colt wood was shaped like this. On all other post-Colt Thompson pistol grips, where that line of the metal under the trigger meets the wood, the facet edge of the wood curves downward right away. Mark
  9. It's a nice gun. Too bad that the pistol grip is not Colt.
  10. I purchased three of the new Kahr 50 round drums in the recent PK buy, and today I finally got around to trying them out in a 1928A1. Two of them loaded fine, but the third one had a track that didn't allow the rounds to move through freely in one spot. The key makes a good field expedient tool to gently work the track to lean over to where all the rounds move freely. Discerning what is a click and what is not a click on these drums is guesswork for me at this point. But, all three drums ran flawlessly. I hope they continue to perform flawlessly. So far, so good. Mark
  11. Only one? OK, M240. How about 5 more? M249, M16A2, M2HB .50, Colt Thompson, 1919A4 Five more? M134, M60, MP5, '28 Thompson, M1/M1A1 Thompson
  12. I found that there was more than just one selection that I could have made on the demographics poll, but it did not allow me back in to make a second selection.
  13. P.S. I did take my original '21 style carry pouch to him and he said that when he does find that unique type of canvas that was used to make those, then he will reproduce them. He' trying to find the correct canvas for that.
  14. I did a little homework since my first post regarding this canvas. My friend (Ray) does not have a website, but a guy in Calif. who sells some of Ray's stuff does have a website: (WWIIimpressions.com) But, I didn't see the 50 round drum pouches listed on his site yet. Ray doesn't want to mess with anything less than bulk orders, but he will sell to me in whatever quantity that I want. So, you can purchase from the guy in Calif. who has the website, or I can probably save you a few bucks if I buy them directly from Ray and then sell them to you. I hope this is helpful to those of you who were interested. My email is marklayton@aol.com and phone is (801) 226-6106 Thanks, Mark
