hawksnest
Actually, I think that is the even rarer hollywood 10,000 round drum.
Raining Brass
Thanks...now I have to go watch Miller's Crossing again!
SecondAmend
I don't have a link to the movie clip, but IIRC, Nicholas Cage used the same drum during a battle scene in "Wind Talkers".
joseph12297
AOC Mini Gun prototype I am certain. Cool flash shows, and the smoking barrel at the end is great
dalbert
We refer to that as the "M-Drum" on the board here... David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
mnshooter
So that's how the stock got cracked on the 21 Frank is selling.
Ron Mills
Ah yes, the fabled M drum! David beat me to it with his reply. That's because he's so quick on the trigger. On the trigger. Get it? Albert Finney has that Gregory Peck look about him as he fires. And fires. And fires. Actually all those extra rounds are fed through a tube inside his robe. Hey, it could happen in Hollywood. Oh the art of the film editor.
Big Al
Serious question here. Were there any prototype drums bigger than the C drum? My uncle swears he saw a magazine article with a photo of a 200 rounder. Just would like to know one way or the other.

buzz
According to IMDB, 524 shots are fired from Albert Finney's Thompson during that scene. I guess it fits in nicely with Hollywood's 25 shot revolvers and shotguns.
dalbert
According to IMDB, 524 shots are fired from Albert Finney's Thompson during that scene. So he still had 476 rounds left in the "M-Drum." David
Hawkeye_Joe
I know it's not a Thompson question but what kind of handgun did Albert's bodyguard have? It doesn't look like something from the 20's/30's.

buzz
all movie firearms questions answered: http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Miller%27s_Crossing In general, movies have a pretty lame and random assortment of guns in them. shadycon
1- 200 rd drum = 2-100 rd drums taped together!
Dolphinvet
I can get around 1500 rounds of .45acp ammo in a 50 cal can when I'm doing my reloading. And it weighs a ton. No way I could have something like that in a theoretical drum and shoulder it. A hundred round drum is damn heavy as is. Nicholas Cage fired so much during the battle scenes in Windtalkers I don't think he could carry that many L drums.
dalbert
Al,I don't think anyone could lift such a beast! He told me the article said the drum in question was for use from vehicles. No such beast exists that we know of. 100 rounds is and was the largest capacity magazine or drum ever attempted or documented. Your friend is probably recalling a C-drum on a motorcycle mount. David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
