CLC
Upon reading Frank's MAC book there is a picture of a police case for the m6. The caption says only 20 were made. My m6 came in one of these cases. There is a space for a cleaning rod and you can see that one was stored in it based on the indent in the case. Unfirtunately the rod was gone by the time I got the setup. Are these cases really that rare? What about the cleaning rods? I could only find 1 for sale @ $195 for an unmarked generic looking brass rod.
dalbert
CLC, Yes, you are correct that only 20 were made. They are rare. I have not seen a cleaning rod. David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
CLC
Here are a few crappy cell phone pics of the case. There is a compartment in the upper left corner that looks like it held something. Any idea what, maybe a box of ammo? It is strange that the interior partitions were added after the case was covered in leather or whatever covers it. My M6 is also a police gun but marked military like the one in franks book. It is only a few numbers away from the one in the book. Also the rear sight is very loose and flops around. Is is missing a spring or something or is that the way they came? Also my case came with the rare custom belt handle and custom engraving!
ron_brock
Thanks for sharing. I love the police case and didn't realize they were made in that small of numbers still reading MacMan. I have noticed one other for sale in the recent past along with the gun. Ron
timkel
I remember seeing an Ingram M6 case with the cleaning rod. I looked just like a regular Thompson brass cleaning rod, nothing special.
CLC
This is the $195 one. Not sure how you prove it's authentic. Either way I aint payin $195 for an unmarked brass rod.
timkel
This is the $195 one. Not sure how you prove it's authentic. Either way I aint payin $195 for an unmarked brass rod.No way to prove this one is original either. Just can't imagine Gordon Ingram making rods when so many surplus ones were available.Found this pic of a case with rod.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/timkel24102410/stuff/ImgranM6Case_zpstnq1uhix.jpg Edited March 7, 2016 by timkel
timkel
Updated with another pic. This is from the Mac Man bible. Shows a different cleaning rod. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/timkel24102410/stuff/cd37beeb-1947-4211-8ac5-564d35d96816_zpskbonwjli.jpg Edited March 7, 2016 by timkel
smkummer
Mine looks like what timkel posted. I thought I read that there were later cases like what I have and the earlier cases.
MACMAN
First, I think timkel is correct in that Ingram would not have had a company to make the rods that only fit the M-6. Second, I think Mike is right about two model's of cases being made. I don't remember what is in the book. But I think there was and old case and a newer case.
