Deavis
If one encountered a WH with a .75" or a Kahr 1927 with a .75" grip hanger, could the gun be stripped, fixtured in a mill upside down, and have the hanger milled .125" on each side in order to accept GI fore grips? 95mustang
simple answer ............yes but it's better to remove barrel and mill the grip mount off the gun .but either way works
ppgcowboy
I would think it would be easier to deal with the wood. Contact deerslayer and see what he can do. He ma be able to make an exact copy that can fit the .75 hanger.
buzz
It would be easier to just mill the wood channel bigger, wouldn't it?
deerslayer
The new kahr guns have two pieces of steel spotwelded together to make the 3/4 hanger. The steel is quite hard. Probably wouldn't mill very well.

DINK
Any interest in a vertical fore end with the .75" channel? I have one kicking around here that I have no use for and I can't even remember where it came from. Pay for a USPS small flat-rate box and it's yours. With a little ingenuity, you can do some amazing stuff with them.

A sharp chisel would work as well if you know what you are doing. Andrew

reconbob
In the last year I have encountered 2 Kahr semi's with the 3/4" grip mount. Both were SBRconversions and both guys wanted an original 1/2" grip mount so they could put on an originalforend. The 3/4" grip mount is as Dan described - 2 pieces welded together. Whether by design'or accident the grip mounts - practically speaking - were impossible to remove. We tried a DougRichardson slide hammer removal tool - nothing. The way we got them out was to set up thewhole thing in a hydraulic press holding the grip mount and using the press to force the receiveroff the grip mount. This is beyond typical gunsmithing. I am not saying they are all like this butbe prepared. Bob
mnshooter
You'll be glad you were able to get rid of the 3/4" flat strip of steel, and put in a proper GI mount, or one of Bob's new production.
