Bruce V 21/28
Any of you guys see the Colt 21 on Guns America for $40,000?
Arthur Fliegenheimer
99.9% original finish? Only if the original finish was never completely applied in the first place. Even judging by his one lousy photo, it is easy to see the wear on the receiver. Maybe he starts at $40K so when the buyer sees the gun in person, he can negotiate from that figure to eventually wind up at $18K?
gijive
You beat me to the punch, Arthur. :-) The wood looks like it has been refinished also. The rear grip, based on the shape, looks like a WWII variety "M" marked Strombeck-Becker grip. I have refinished many of them and they have a distinctive curve at the rear. No way is that a $40,000.00 gun.
LIONHART
He wants to sell that one, to buy two more! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif
Arthur Fliegenheimer
If it actually was 99.9% it would be worth $50K! If this is how Freedom Arms describes the condition of this item, what does that say about how they conduct any other facet of their business? John Jr
If it was 99.9% it MIGHT be worth 20K IF Capone owned it. Probably more like a 18K gun if the right buyer came along. If it was a Savage, it might be worth the 40K. Jr
21 smoker
They didn`t leave the Colt factory in 99.9% condition...in 1921!!!
Arthur Fliegenheimer
John J, Even if it were the first Savage to appear on the cover of National Geographic it would still be worth only $7K. Just ask Mike. 21, Right! It wasn't until 1928 when they converted a batch of Colts into Navy Models that they became 100%.
John Jr
We are sure glad you are not in comedy, you would be broke. Jr http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
SecondAmend
Appears as if Freedom Arms uses the same pricing paradigm as Armament Services and Checkpoint Charlies. Edited April 23, 2004 by SecondAmend
Ron Mills
Most comedians are broke (as are most musicians, artists, actors, sculptors, etc.)! But hey, we all choose. I too chuckle at these "larger than life" prices. And the other can-o-worms: NOS. It's either new, or it's not. Period. Right?
JimFromFL
http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Lets all e-mail the guy and say we are interested, then have a bidding war. Once it gets to about $70K we can all decline saying our local sheriff won't sign off on the Form 4. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Hurridale
It isn't so much the $40,000 price tag that turns me off as much as the additional 3% for using a credit card. Now that's just asking too darn much!
