maxfaxdude
I just bought a C&R BAR and noticed that the fellow I bought it from sent me signed copies of the old (revised May 2016) Form 4 to send to the ATF for the transfer. Will the ATF accept this old form 4 or do I need to have the seller send me signed copies of latest (revised September 2019) Form 4?
inertord
Really only the ATF could say for sure and there have been several revisions since 2016. I would use the current form with revision date September 2019: https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/form/form-4-application-tax-paid-transfer-and-registration-firearm-atf-form-53204 Edited November 2, 2019 by inertord
G-Man1006
I believe you must use the most current Form 4 or ATF will reject the forms. Dan
Black River Militaria CII
Recent revision will be required for F4 transfer to an individual due to new information requests on the revised form. The older F4s can be used from an individual to a dealer...... maxfaxdude
Thank you all for feedback. Mailed out the new revised form 4 today. There's probably some sort of "grace period" with the old form 4, but why chance it.
DougStump
On the bottom of the September 2019 form says "Previous editions are obsolete". No, they will not accept older forms (unless someone isn't paying attention). Now it it said "Previous editions are usable", then you could. Bridgeport28A1
FYI, the ATF Distribution Center is out of stock and back ordered, they are "at the printer"and are expected sometime in November. You have got to love that the Government is out of stock on a Form where they collect tax revenue. Edit: Backordered Form 4s (Revised September 2019)were delivered today FedEx ground Edited November 4, 2019 by Bridgeport28A1
DZelenka
Well, I mailed some of the November 2018 forms to ATF for a customer on Friday. I guess we will find out the answer as to what happens.
APEXgunparts
Well, I mailed some of the November 2018 forms to ATF for a customer on Friday. I guess we will find out the answer as to what happens. This happened to a friend of mine during a previous form revision.THAT NFA branch sent a letter stating he had to send the latest form and gave him a week before he went back to being "on the bottom of the pile" status.Problem was the notice arrived AFTER the grace period was long over.
