jim c 351
Does anyone wonder what happened to the Marietta Colts M1921A. Colt TSMG M1921A #8912 Had a min bid of $25,000.00. On this Colt only one sealed bid was received. The bid was for $12,000.00 which was under the minimum bid and was rejected. Colt #8912 did not sell. Colt TSMG M1921A #10886 had a min bid of $30,000.00. On this Colt only Two sealed bids were received. One bid was for $31,605.00 and the other was for $32,000.00 After the sealed bids were opened, an auction began between the two bidders. The winning bid was $38,000.00. The winning bidder was Lee Hodgson of Cinncinatti, Ohio. I would have to guess that Mr. Hodgson does't spend too much time monitoring Sub guns or Sturm. The $38,000.00 that the city received was more than they needed for the police dept, so they are taking no futher action with the unsold Colt. Do I recall that you had to submit partial certified deposit along with the bid ? After they opened the two good qualifing sealed bids---- then they started an AUCTION ?????? WTF ????? Maybe I didn't look at the terms, or something I'm missing, but -- If I was one of those who submitted a sealed bid and gone to the trouble of obtaining cert. funds then the did this auction bit---- I think I would be a little "upset." Shouldn't this have sold to the highest sealed qualifing bid ??? What am I missing here ??? Anybody ??? Bill
colt21a
maybe a little T.G.got figured in.{ they had to buy more holster's}if that is the case Bill. thats bad.then again. nothing surprises me in this screwed up screw the collector world.{ and the other had no sale? strange!} i'm sure you will get a answer on this. and maybe they can make sense out of it. i did not catch that if this is the case...sealed bid. then we auction to high bid...and resell again...Ron
FireMerc
Auctions have just taken on never ending forms and never ending fees haven't they. What ever happened to the good old days of the true absolute auction. The City listed in the Legal Notice that "All bidders may attend the bid opening, once the bids are read the Director of Public Safety and Service will ask bidders present if they would like to raise their bids. If so, he will proceed with an auction." Marietta Thompson Sale Legal Notice

TAS1921AC
Looks like 8912 could use the right wood. (They could have at least used milled swivels.)
