I have always loved the M1/M1A1 I bought.my first in 1979 for 450. I still have on #148xxx. I bought it.in 2000 and it always make.a.trip to the range when I go(last.time was.2.weeks ago). I.you.are ever in the Houston Tx area you can shoot.all of my guns. Its looks.great, to bad you could not own a Live one.
My Uncle was a Marine Raider, I have a picture of him coming back from a mission on a submarine holding a Reising model 55. I will post it if I can find it.
I have not reloaded for a, while but 5gr of bullseye with 230gr always worked great in any of my Thompsons. The Berrys plated are the bullets the commercial loader I have been buying from for 15years uses and I have had zero problems with the thousands I have fired in both 9mm and 45.
I reasenly got a rifle shipped to me in an interesting but effective way. The rifle was in an old soft case with crushed 1 liter plastic bottles wedged all around the case and the box. It xid not move and the case protected the finish.
I have 2 friends that have them. FA only and will not take drums. They shoot a little fast and one had a very heavy trigger pull until the lower was sent back to be reworked (25# plus) I thought it was on safety the first time I shot it. The $6500 is not a bad price, but I will stick to my original M 1 and 1928.
I had a 9 mm put together on an M1A1 receiver in the late 70s by Fred Kasse. If I remember right it used UD 42mags. Paid around $600 for it at the time, just a little more than a standard M1A1.
I remember when Armex had their "down and dirty sale" of dealer samples. close to 0% finish and funky wood, got a 1918A2 Royal TR co, and a M1A1 Thompson for $400 for the pair. $50 of reparking and I had 2 fine shooters for years
I would find it hard to believe that this was taken from the Officer killed. The main reason is that he was taken 30 K to be buried in a Heros Cemetary. He was also a couragous person to have these awards no matter what Army he was in. It said he led his men from the front, something you do not here of often
Nice picture of the Raiders. My Uncle was a Gsgt in the 2nd Raiders and the only picture I have of him was coming back from the Makin Island Raid on a sub, he was holding a Reising M 55.
