deerslayer
Here is a 1928 Navy grip that I just made. Copied the shape and features from an original including the enfield sling swivel. Nothing to drastically different, a little shorter and the front edge is rounded over. Just a little water on the wood in the picture to make the grain show up. Anybody else got an original? How does it compare to yours? When you work with a sample of 1 as your guide there is room for error. 1921A
Dan Looks good! I have two that are kind of unusual. The first came from a Navy that the PD wanted a vertical grip instead of the horizantal. I was happy to trade them a WWII vertical in good condition. The only difference I see is that mine is slightly thicker and radiused more on the sides than your example. The front radius looks the same. The other one looks like the 1923 military fore end. It seems to be about 7" x 3" x 3" with a finger groove. It was on a 1921 that was cut years ago. I've seen a few like it still in service. Jackson Michigan has the same style front grip on a gun they have on display in their conference room - if it's still there. If memory serves, it's a form 10 gun. The two are packed away somewhere but I can look for them and try to post pictures later. Greg Fox

deerslayer
Thanks Greg, it would be interesting to see the wood you mention some time. Especially the type of sling swivel on the PD gun. I also wonder if the butt stock on an actual unaltered navy would have a enfield sling to. Arthur Fliegenheimer
The offset Enfield Swivel is what the altered Colt Navy stocks had as well. But they don't appear to be as recessed as yours on the grip.
