gijive
All, Excerpt from Gordon Herigstad's Colt Thompson Serial Numbers, Volume 1, Page 417: The Chicago Police obtained many Thompson Guns in 1926, and 1927. One attached article mentions thirty-five, although I had heard at one point that many of the guns were returned to Auto-Ordnance after using them in the 1927 elections to combat voter fraud. Unfortunately, I cannot document anything in the newspapers of the day that mentions the City of Chicago returning guns to Auto-Ordnance. The last time I did research into these guns (several years ago) the City had less than twenty Thompson Guns in inventory and several were WWII models. The attached pictures are from 1926 and 1927 and are probably related to the shipment mentioned in the excerpt from Gordon's book.
